Continue your discussions about everything Babcock here.

There will be zero tolerance of rules being broken as there have been plenty of warnings over the past couple days.

Any rule breaks, flaming, bickering or name calling will get you thread banned, or worse. This also includes OT political type discussion. Keep it regarding Babcock only.

Look forward, not back.
The bad man has left town, the struggle is over.

Does he get hired for 2020/21 ?

Have to think yes. The NHL is a recycling league.

For sure. May even have a job in the next few weeks. He's not an awful coach, and could likely bring stability to number of floundering teams right now. He might even learn something from his mistakes here and improve as a coach. It's not like he's a dummy. He just fell victim to his own ego and decided to get more and more stubborn instead of ever adapting- something that happens all too often in this market. This market makes coaches crazy, and brings out the worst in the egotistical ones.

But thank the lord he's gone. Its unforgivable that he took the most talented roster in the league and forced them to play the ugliest brand of dump and chase hockey imaginable, while giving grunts prime minutes instead of elite talent.

I think Seattle is almost a perfect spot for him if he wants to get back into it.

He'll get plenty of time off between now and then. He can help out with behind the scenes stuff happening. He can be the face of the franchise before they draft their first player.

The recent stuff about Babcock isn't good for his perceived image but I think for the casual fan, he'd be a great "star" to hype up that franchise and he's obviously a good coach in some capacity, especially with a team full of misfits for the most part.

If he takes a gig with another team, does he still get full salary from the Leafs?

I wouldn't be surprised if Babcock just goes into retirement.

He was a good coach, probably overrated due to inheriting a powerhouse Wings team, but he was an improvement.

Even Scotty changed teams, so they don't stay on the same team forever.

Yes, he had flaws and I'm happy he's moved on.

Did he exceed anyone's expectations, considering who joined the team after he was hired?

I think the Leafs can force the 'new' team to pick up a portion of whatever is left on Babcocks tab. So if a new team wants to hire him, the Leafs can make sure they pay a big portion of what is left.

At least that's how I understand how this works.

He needs Leafs permission while he's being paid by the Leafs, so Leafs wouldn't let him work for another team unless they work out an agreement.
I doubt another team would pay him what the Leafs are paying him, but if they paid half Leafs would be happy.

However, if there is a revolution on what is acceptable behaviour by coaches who knows how the landscape is going to change.

Undermines management - check

Fails to adapt his philosophy and terrible at in-game adjustments - check
Picks favorites regardless of play - check
Rarely takes blame for anything - check
Fails to utilize teams' strengths in favour of his own "templates" - check
Reaction time to things that are clearly not working - very slow - check

What a great hire!
