We need another LD for our top four to be complete. Don’t think Albert is the answer and don’t know how good Wallinder will be. Maybe it’s time to trade for a D-minded, large LD who can cover for ASP?

I think you will see Edvinsson paired with ASP. The opposing defense will have to worry about both players carrying the puck. Could be a very dynamic pairing.

Yes.

Forwards? Where we're going, we don't need forwards.

Some nice scout quotes from this Article

“It was a special night for a special player,” one NHL scout said after the game.

“His physicality is an underrated element of his game,” a scout said after the tournament in Sweden. “He doesn’t want you to snag open ice and has the gap control and the hockey IQ to take advantage.”

“He’d be prone to try and rush the puck up the ice and would get caught making mistakes coming back in his draft year,” another scout said. “But his continued patience has allowed him to slow the game down to make the right plays instead of just another play.”

Seider is not as dynamic with the puck as Edvinsson. It will be interesting to see if their roles will change with a new coach, but Seider has regressed this year regarding his offensive play. Edvinsson's stick handling and ability to carry the puck has surpassed Seider this year.

Werenski.

He's 28 next yr and CBJ needs to restart their rebuild. Has a full no-trade clause, lives in Grosse Pointe (his hometown) in the off-season, best friends w/ Larkin... we could DeBrincat this thing for sure.

I think the following gets it done:

2025 1st & 2026 2nd.
Any of Ras, Veleno, Berggren, Johansson.
Any of Wallinder, Buium, Finnie, Lombardi, Kiiskinen, Soderblom, sigh.. Buchelnikov.

No to buch

Also there's no way anything close to that gets werenski. He has a 9.5m cap, they're already under the cap because of the Johnny hockey tragedy. The wings don't even have the cap space.

Ehhh. I've seen Seider be plenty dynamic on many occasions. Unfortunately he has suffered from: a) being top dog on a putrid d corps and seeing the worst/hardest minutes in the league; and b) doing that in an ineffective system which wasn't working for anybody and thus put even more pressure on him. Let's see how he does with the structure McLellan will be developing before making judgments.

Also Seider is scoring at a 0.56ppg pace while Edvinsson is pacing at 0.44ppg, so there's that. Edvinsson has looked great and he's going to be elite just like Seider. But will have to show more before eclipsing him. The circumstances Edvinsson is coming up in are much easier than those Seider did. He may very well end up the better of the two though, time will tell. Although I think either player's offensive play will matter a bit less once ASP is on the team, our PPQB of the (likely) near future. These are all good problems to have.

Imagine if year one Seider had gotten year three Seider as an anchor partner breaking into the league...

Cap space wouldn't be an issue.

Trade Kane to someone for an asset. Give someone a 6th Rd pick to take the last couple months of Husso's salary.

Bang. 9.5M in cap space.

They both have 14 even strength point. If you watched the game last night, Ed should have had two primary assists if the forwards could bury his set-ups. Don't get me wrong, Seider is great. Edvinsson's offensive curve is a little steeper.

What do you need the cap space for?

Is it that simple?

I don't think so.
