Fair Expectations for Red Wings Prospect Axel Sandin Pellikka in North America - The Hockey Writers Detroit Red Wings Latest News, Analysis & More
Axel Sandin Pellikka is an excellent prospect, but it's time to set some realistic expectations for his upcoming arrival in North America.thehockeywriters.com
An ASP expectations write up by Logan Horn...for what it worth...I personally expect ASP and Tuo to both get an NHL preview this spring, unless ASP outright wins the right to stay when he arrives.

I assume they are buying out Holl at this point.Could see them both saying up... when Petry retiring.
We could go with 8 defenceman again.
Chiarot - Seider
Edvinsson - Johansson
Gustafsson - ASP
----------------
healthy scratches:
Holl
Tuomisto
I can't do a 4th year of Chiarot playing in the top pairing.
That is a mega failing on Yzerman if we do again. Also think ASP needs more of a steady guy than unpredictable Gus.
I really don't like the options tho, and with the wings track record on UFA dman. Not exactly exciting.I gotta believe Yzerman is looking for a top 4 LD this summer. He's got the cash. God I hope so.
Without a doubt, the safer bet, but there are times when post TDL expanded roster walk on players stick with the big club because they do not consume any of the 4 call up slots. Usually college grads, but I could see where one or both could be kept on the wings roster yet not exactly play out past their 10 game slides unless they know Todd's socks off. I believe if they don't play 11 NHL games, they are still eligible to be assigned to the Griffs for their playoffs....Unless the Wings are out of it, I'd be somewhat surprised if the Wings use this Spring as an audition period for prospects. I'd expect ASP (and MBN) in GR,
I personally really believe ASP should just play with Ed. Ed consistently makes whoever he plays with look better. He did it his first 8 games with chiarot, he did it with petry, he did it with seider and now he's doing it with AJ. I also think their styles would go well together as well. Ideally we play our top 2 pairs equally because they will both be that good. And then in key situations we put Ed and seider together.I can't do a 4th year of Chiarot playing in the top pairing.

As for Holl and Gus I'm hoping for them being able to get moved more easily with the cap going up, some of the cheaper teams might need to add cap.

Everyone knows, or I think they do that I'm pro Benny. When we want to be a serious threat, Chiarot needs to slot where he should be, 3rd pairing LD.That should be one long-term option. And slot Johansson with Seider.
We are currently Top5 NHL team (under McLellan) with Chiarot at the Top pair. Under right coaching, it does not seem any kind of problem for success. And Seider is getting better and better every season, when Chiarot keeping his level.
I don't believe in buyouts or anythin like that (Holl). Contracts will be lived through, cause the terms are short and team is winning (also with Holl). They are scapegoats but still - the team is winning.
Yep, Holl is not going anywhere unless SY needs a contract slot (team is allowed 50, but have some ELC's coming up), he is an expensive 7/8D, but seems to play better when he doesn't play every game...and he will be gone after next season. That should be one long-term option. And slot Johansson with Seider.
