Cap spaceExactly. Who are those players? We lose a known asset for….
If we don't acquire a good LHD now, we'll try again at the TDL. We played Calgary castoff Solovyov a ton of games last regular season

Who is the LHD we are going to acquire? I keep asking the same question with no answer. History shows giving up the best player at the time often doesn’t result in positive outcomes. Drury was a known commodity, possibly expensive, but worked. There are no known top-4 defenseman available with the teams assets or cap.
So basically what I suggested and do what with the hole in the PK and top 6?Re-sign Kulak and acquire a bottom pairing, young LHD in a trade for Nichushkin.
Bank some cap space until the TDL and then go acquire another defenseman and/or winger as needed.
The players acquired could be great, hope the head coach leans into their abilities and warts. History shows he won’t.
Can't really credit Bedz with that one. Lehky was money before he got here. Sent Montreal to the cup finals.History says he will. Bednar has leveled up a ridiculous number of young players, specifically ones who were brought in and still had RFA rights (Aube-Kubel, Burakovsky, Graves, Lehkonen, Nichushkin, Nieto, Toews).
Right all along! So basically what I suggested and do what with the hole in the PK and top 6?
I’m sorry but this is just completely ridiculous. Bednar had nothing to do with those players “leveling up.” And for every success story, there are monumental misses in the form of Sherwood, Colton, Nelson…there is zero history of Bednar taking young, bottom 6 players and cultivating a successful development path for themHistory says he will. On a dog shit Montreal teamLehky sent Montreal to the Cup finals, but he scored only 4 points during that entire SCF run (17gp).
He had 14 the next postseason with Colorado, and has been a 59-point pace regular season player (vs a 31-point pace player with the Habs).
Little bit of a talent discrepancy between what the Habs were working with though, right?Lehky sent Montreal to the Cup finals, but he scored only 4 points during that entire SCF run (17gp).

God bless you for your ability to twist your narrative. Jared Bednar is one of the worst things to happen to this organization. Just good enough to make you not want to make a change. I hope I’m wrong, but I will guarantee that neither of these players acquired in this trade are on the roster by the deadline.I agree, the amount of success he's had with these young guys has been ridiculous.
Sherwood played for 3 different teams before figuring things out with Vancouver. Colton scored a career high of 40 points under Bednar. Nelson just scored 33 goals and was a Selke finalist.

Maybe that’s scouting and buying low on a high end player? Just like toews?Of course, but it's not just the points, but also the role. His ice time is 4:20 higher with Colorado than it was with Montreal. When Sakic brought him in, we all thought Lehky was going to be a nice middle-6 piece. Next thing you know, he's playing on the top line in the Stanley Cup finals, and pretty much hasn't left that spot the past few seasons.
We can agree to disagree on this one. One of Bednar’s biggest faults is his inability to develop young players. There's plenty to crap on Bednar for, but his ability to level up young guys isn't one of them.
Which young players here has Bednar failed to develop that have gone on hit such heights that he clearly failed them? I'd love to see this extensive list.We can agree to disagree on this one. One of Bednar’s biggest faults is his inability to develop young players.
I can counter with who has he developed?Which young players here has Bednar failed to develop that have gone on hit such heights that he clearly failed them? I'd love to see this extensive list.
Don't avoid the question because you're narrative is getting debunked buddy.I can counter with who has he developed?
I’m not your buddy pal. There’s no narrative to debunk. Bardakov just left because he was getting 6 minutes a night. Kovalenko left because of the same. These aren’t world beaters, but they are players that could be useful middle 6 players if given more time to develop their game, just like a player like Sherwood. The players acquired in the trade today are way closer to those players than they are to blue chip prospects. The team lost a great PK player and an elite 4C for nothing but cap space to fix a glaring issue with no fix to it.Don't avoid the question because your narrative is getting debunked buddy.
The same Kovalenko that a basement Sharks team gave minutes to and decided that he wasn't good enough? So we have two players in Bednars tenure in your opinion that he's wasted. Over 10 seasons that doesn't seem too bad.I’m not your buddy pal. There’s no narrative to debunk. Bardakov just left because he was getting 6 minutes a night. Kovalenko left because of the same.
