If he actually gets a 1st, my feeling that he'd generate a bit of a mini bidding war were correct, but woof.

I think Cbus might still trade Prov, as I feel like he isn't re-signing there and Gudbranson will be back before the playoffs, so they could afford to clear up their logjam there

However, if they do trade him, it'll be for offensive help since they are decimated up front and could use some extra scoring punch

I don't think Lindgren reduces the top pair minutes. Jones probably would have (at least in the first couple years of that contract) as he's the kind of D that coaches feel comfortable leaning on

If Girard and Manson get there standard ice time or 21min and 18min respectively, it Lindgren can play 18min a game and Malinski gets his 15min a game you’re looking at roughly 24min a game for both Makar and Toews.

Quick math of 60min per side of ice for 120min, less 72min (21+18+18+15) gives you 48min or 24 min per side. That time goes from Cale or Toews being on the PK to Manson and Lindgren.

I think the biggest issue for most isn't trading for Lindgren, but that this killed Jones to Avs rumours. @NOTENOUGHRYJOTHINGS mentioned a good point yesterday, but Avs needed a defender to push Manson down, but Lindgren's play this season isn't the one to do that. Definitely has talent to play on that second pairing, but with the handiness issues, he's there to cover Malinski's mistakes.

E: I should mention that Girard has been bullied defensively quite a bit lately.

For sure I get it, I too have advocated that the biggest need is to fix the d core. It’s even more important than replacing mitts imo. It’s the hyperbole that blows me away, not having seen this player in our system yet. It could very well not work out, but we should know better than to jump to definitive conclusions when it comes to our assessments. There have been a fair number of times where the world was ending here but the player actually turned out to be a good fit.

He's undersized though and after he hurt his shoulder a few years ago, really lost a lot of upper body strength. Be advised, every coach loves him and therefore he plays a lot more than he should.

From the outside it feels like the leadership in that locker room has been on hold for 3 years...and we've heard bits from players in the past that the room is fractioned.

Last year Trenin went out of his way to say that it wasn't like that in Nashville.

Landy, EJ, Cogs, JJ, Kadri and Helm were all never really replaced in terms of leadership.
The guys brought on after the Cup win aren't exactly leaders. None of Colton, Wood, Necas, Mitts, Drouin, Malinski, Kivi, Kelly, Kyllington or Middleton have that rep, so it's a much needed attribute to have. Drury might be the only one

Drouin is underrated in that regard, but yes.

I believe that fraction was solely coming from Georgiev's play. I'd be surprised to hear that the room is still fractioned. Now, the lack of leadership is true. We need more heart-and-soul guys and Lindgren is one.

I honestly think Bednar would rather deploy Toews and Makar in more offensive minutes than defensive minutes. Particularly on the penalty kill and definitely in games where we have a 2+ goal lead.

Folks can talk all they want about whether or not Lindgren is what we need... but let's not ever say this wasn't a lot of deck chairs moving for what most people think is a f***ing wash if not straight downgrade.

Seems like a lot of shit was moved for asbolutely no difference. Hope to see this differently after watching Lindgren play for us instead of NYR, but this seems like an absolute abysmal failure. Almost like the GM allowed his coach to make a trade.
