He and he alone decides who plays and how much. I'm guessing that he has a lot to say about who the Avs acquire.... at least being part of the conversation and being consulted.Bednar doesn’t make roster decisions. He can say what he may want, but the results will speak for themselves. It doesn’t matter how much he loves Georgiev, if his SP is under 900 and the risk of missing the playoffs is possible, Bednar won’t control anything.
I'm also speculating that Bednar is a major factor as to why goalie moves didn't happen this off season. Bednar has been fine with George's performance overall. He probably reasoned that Nuke was responsible for the Av's playoff exit last season versus laying any of it at his goaltenders feet.
