Avs trade Annunen and 2025 6th for Scott Wedgewood (NSH)

Not super concerned with the 6th. We MIGHT have players from the 6th or 7th round in Kovalenko and Prishchepov, but we don't exactly draft well outside of the top 10
I was just saying that "magic bean" could have been used in an actual attempt to fix the goaltending. Now we are just down one assett before we even go to actually fix the problem.

It's better to accept it now than hoping for something that will never come.

Georgiev is their guy for this season and they'll get a new starter next summer.

No.. f*** you

Absolutely I think he was. He is 24. No goalie gets drafted and developed to be a backup at his age.

Wedgewood gave an interview last Summer about how to be a backup goalie. He said he struggled early in his career mentally because he wanted to push so hard to be #1 and he would sometimes want to see the other guy falter so he would get more playing time.

Said he didn't truly figure out how to be a backup goalie until he got to Dallas and knew his job was to help Oettinger, not take time from him and cause him to worry.

This move makes too much sense and worries me.

It doesn't matter you're not turning 4Giev into a starter no matter what. The only reason he still is, is because his backup deflated like the beach ball his cheeks represent.

No.. f*** you

It was only a matter of time until we turned on each other.

CMac and goaltenders, what an iconic duo. Seems like the man cannot make rational decisions with goalies.

Nothing has been fixed in any way, they gave up a pick and the player that has more potential. f*** off.

Is wedgewood shit? Not very familiar with him.

I'm assuming they've seen something in Wedgewood that they like, and if Bednar can't trust Justus then there's no point in keeping him. Not loving the cap hit or the extra pick since we're giving up the younger player, but it's not a huge deal. Hopefully Wedgewood can keep it to less than four goals a game against. That's literally all I ask.

I'm just super f***ing pissed about the disconnect between CMac, Bednar and Parkkila. Can't you guys talk, and then establish that CMac calls the shots in the end?

This f***ing issue could've been solved during the summer, if Bednar had said he doesn't trust Annunen. The Kähkönen debacle could've been avoided entirely, had there been communication.

Instead, CMac makes moves that rely on the fact that he hopes Bednar will hold up his end of the bargain. And when he doesn't, we are caught with our pants down.

CMac needs to call Bednar into his office and tell him that CMac and Parkkila call the shots now regarding goaltending, or Bednar can f*** straight off.

What a f***ing clownshow, I'm so f***ing sick of this shit

I get that this wasn't the trade most people anticipated or wanted, but if Justus was no longer trusted by the staff, then making a move was the right thing to do. Justus was not the answer to our goaltending issues. Nor was Kahkonen. I've see a bunch of comments about how Kahkonen should have been given more reps, but on the same hand dismissing Wedgewood without any. But if Kahkonen was jettisoned that quickly, that tells you everything you needed to know. He was shit. The coaches saw enough of him in one game and practice sessions. He was not the answer. More reps would have been more shit. They made a move, it didn't work out, they moved on quickly. Same as happened with Tatar last year.

I'm reserving judgement on Wedgewood 'til I see him or read about him. If he can be consistent then great, Annunen was up and down. Some games he looked really solid, then others he looked abysmal. Consistency would be nice from a backup.

The George situation should be considered separate from the Wedgewood/Annunen/Kahkonen discussion. Those are all backups and none were here to challenge George for #1.

What if there isn't a disconnect between Bednar and CMac? Hence no Georgie trade? Granted would be quite concerning if that's the case.
