Yeah if he plays this week and produces any kind of points then he pretty much has to stick around.
Even with a fully healthy roster (as below) there are ways to make it work.
Landeskog --- Mackinnon --- Rantanen
Burakovsky ----- Kadri ------- Saad
Nichuskin ------- Jost -------- Donskoi
Calvert -------- Bellemare ---- Compher/O'Connor/Soderberg
1) Slide Newhook onto the 2nd line and push Saad to the 3rd line and one of Donskoi/Nichuskin to the 4th.
Landeskog ------------ Mackinnon --- Rantanen
Burakovsky -------------- Kadri -------- Newhook
Nichuskin/Donskoi ----- Jost --------- Saad
Nichuskin/Donskoi -- Bellemare ----- Calvert/Compher/O'Connor/Soderberg
2) Put Newhook at 3C, and Jost at 4C:
Landeskog --- Mackinnon --- Rantanen
Burakovsky ---- Kadri -------- Saad
Nichuskin ---- Newhook ---- Donskoi
Calvert ---------- Jost --------- Compher/O'Connor/Bellemare/Soderberg
3) Newhook on the 3rd line with Jost and Nichuskin.
Landeskog --- Mackinnon --- Rantanen
Burakovsky ---- Kadri -------- Saad
Nichuskin ------ Jost ---------- Newhook
Calvert ------- Bellemare ----- Donskoi/Compher/O'Connor/Soderberg
Nichuskin or Donskoi on the 4th line would be a tremendous luxury, but their minutes could be augmented with time on PK1 and PP1 respectively, along with getting more ice-time depending on game situations (eg. Nichuskin playing more if we are in the lead, or Donskoi playing more if we need a goal).
4) Alternatively you keep the top 9 as is and utilise Newhook on the 4th line PP2 specialist role:
Landeskog --- Mackinnon --- Rantanen
Burakovsky ----- Kadri ------- Saad
Nichuskin ------- Jost -------- Donskoi
Newhook ------ Bellemare --- Calvert/Compher/O'Connor/Soderberg
