This is Bednar we're talking about. Kaapo could start next game and get a shutout, but neither he or Annunen will see another game until George gets 4 or 5 more.
I agree with this.

He sees Georgiev with the highest upside/potential so he forces George to play and hope he performs even small part of that potential/upside.

Was this the first game we got solid goaltending from start to finish?....

Oh look, good things can happen... Even with a team half injured......

Thank god we beat the Sharks and Anaheim (somehow) to get something on the board.....

Still not sold on our goaltending and we need quality bodies back... The sooner, the better.....

Can't wait to see 5giev come in next game and allow 2 goals off the first 3 shots of the game. Bednar's post game "George is our guy".....

If it's any consolation, George is "our guy" in the exact same way that Grubauer was our guy and Kuemper was our guy. I can't see any scenario where we re-sign him and, unlike those other two jokers, it won't be because he's asking for a raise and too many years..

Bednar obviously knows he has a head case starter and his only choice is to pump his tires, tread lightly, do the positive reinforcement dance. it’s an unenviable situation. I fully expect that he privately wants to shoot him into the sun, but has to play along. The only potential knock on Jared with regards to Georgiev is that he might still really believe that he can fix him.

I dunno… with rumors about Gibson and Blackwood floating, the Kak pickup, Annunen starting last night — the plot seems to be thickening. But they can’t afford to be transparent about it in case they get stuck with Wackadoo

Oh, he can ask for a raise and Years as FA. But i doubt there is any team out there willing to give him that.

In the end, and thats the harsh truth, he is not more than a capable backup.

We gambled again, and it didnt work or backfired.

End this nonsense in net and get us a legit starter.

It speaks Volume, that we won a cup with the worst playoff-goaltending in 30 years...... I mean, shows how good that team back in 2022 really was. And it should have been 16-3 if we didnt waste Macs performance in Game 5 against the Blues.....

I like how so many just say let's go get a starter.

Teams aren't just giving their starters away.

Most teams probably want their starter, and if they are willing to move it, that move will be costly.

On top of that, we have to fit them under the cap somehow on a team that may be on a serious cap crunch once folks come back from IR/Sus.

That isn't to say we shouldn't try something, but let's not pretend we can just fire up NHL Live or some other GM simulation and just force the situation we want.

Personally, if it were me, I would start by sending Georgie packing if I can find someone to take him that is at the cap floor.

It will take a pick, hopefully no-more than a 4th since he is in his last year, but I would start there since it's obvious he isn't the guy, based on all of last year and his start to this year.

Then see if our other guys can get his through the year, while keeping an eye out for opportunities to improve the situation.

Avs goalie getting more than 90 percent of shots! Thats new! 😁

Anyway, even if it was just Sharks, nice win. And Colton keeping it real, feck yeah. Could it be that the one again, that we brought in as 3C, gonna turn out to be actual top-six winger?
Anyway, perhaps Landy, when he finally returns, will play 3C and Colton stays on the wing.

Either way, IF Landy comes back, he will likely have to play 3rd line for a fair bit of games while he gets his legs under him, conditioning in and reacclimatized to the game.

It would be a pipe dream to hope could just be reinserted into his old role, but in realty, we have no idea how he will look when he comes back.

With his physicality and smarts, if he is fit, likely he will still contribute, but he may have to reinvent himself as a third line defensive player.
