Avs @ Mild | 6pm MT | Saving Royisalegend from himself

Someone get me some advance stat chart thing that validates my feeling that Sam Malinski sucks.
You’re going to be sorely disappointed.

Minnesota had like 7 shots on net by mid second period. The chart makes no sense. It's makes it look like Minnesota was dominating and clearly better and we were lucky which doesn't match the eye test. I thought we buried our looks but the game itself was fairly even or even slightly in our favor.
It does when you remember that the few times they did get a shot on goal, it was a high danger chance. IMO the Avs did a good job of puck possession but an absolutely lousy job in the defensive zone, especially protecting the middle of the ice. Way, way too often they just let guys walk right in on Blackwood. Luckily he was up for it.

Milds had like 1 shot attempt which I thought was dangerous since they basically had Blackwood beat passing behind him laterally but it was deflected from Minny stick and failed. Yes you can argue that whacking infront of Blackwood couple times are dangerous but they are like dangerous for Georgiev level attempts.

I really dont get the idea how Minny should have won that game 60%. Avs had multiple slot shots behind a screen so what gives..

f***ing Frail. Guy is allergic to being the best defenseman in the world.

Josh Manson was absurd last night lol

His 2 on 1 assist on the shorty to Lehky was bananas lol. I scared my wife because I yelled "NO HE DID NOT" when he just turned on the afterburners and dished the puck over to Lehky.

There were some absolutely HORRID defensive breakdowns last night, the few times the Wylde got a shot on goal it was right there in the slot area. Blackwood had to make multiple heroic saves that would've beaten Georgiev and Annunen very easily. When they're on their game the Avs usually keep those kinds of shots to bad angles. That's not what happened last night.

The breakdown that led to their only goal was just one of them, no one was stopping guys from getting to the middle of the ice, like, at all. They did a good job of keeping the puck away in the attacking zone, but once the puck was in the defensive zone, holy shit.

I understand that. I was simply looking at the ones we did actually score and most were on quality looks. Based on the looks we got, I still believe the number of 1.9 is absurdly low. Hell the LOC breakaway chance and the Lehk 2 on 1 should have put the number higher than 2, as those are top end looks and we had other quality looks throughout the game.
Are you sure? Two chances can't ever go over 2 xG. It would mean a shot from there would go in every single time ever AND sometimes it would go in so hard it scores two goals.

I’m so sick of these arrogant zebras and their game management bullshit. “No, don’t f***ing talk…!” You watched MacKinnon get pushed into the net on a play that he might have gotten injured on, and intentionally didn’t call a penalty. Just skate away and let him talk shit you ego maniac.

Then literally one minute later the other ref calls this blatant dive in the neutral zone. How the f*** do you call this? If you call this a cross check in a pre season game you should never be allowed to ref an NHL game ever again. This is embarrassing.

Then in the first five seconds of the Wild PP, Makar gets hit in the wrist with a slap shot, and misses the next two shifts with Malinski playing with Toews and the top line, because of these f***ing idiots referees.

I feel like the Avs have been hitting refs lately (with bodies and pucks) and I don't think it's necessarily on purpose but I don't think they are being that careful either.

Even Cale was yelling at the ref on his way to the box. He never does that. He was wrong, he legit tripped the guy, but it shows how annoyed the team is with the refs.

It's been going on years now that's why. They've progressively gotten more and more upset. Even Bednar is giving it to them. Sign of the apocalypse.

Remember when everyone was harping on about Bednar giving it to the refs and how other coaches like DeBoer get favorable calls after they rip into the refs.

Well I think we are seeing the results of bednars outburst. The refs have been noticeably less favorable since his "I don't give a shit" moment. Or at least that is my bias perception

Personally I think it's been about the same. They're just always bad at their jobs. In part because there's no accountability for them.

Bednar and other coaches should just take the fines and criticize them publicly more often. Might be the only way for things to get better. Shouldn't even be a fine for most things said. Certainly not Bednar's mild criticism.

They either need to get better, or if they're going to continue to make so many mistakes, they need to get thicker skin, and accept the fair criticism.

Even though i personally love the "f*** you' challenge, i think the refs took that more personally than just yelling "i'm going to f*** your mother just so i can steal her glasses and give them to you"

The Montreal game was a hackathon. It was especially noticeable that game. Plus the goalie interference calls, though a complete joke, were indications of the refs acting out like infants because of the game before (the Buffalo game).
