The impressive thing about Ritchie’s year is he’s completely changed Oshawa’s outlook on their season since coming back from injury. He’s an absolute driving force for the success they’ve been having.

If he seriously commits to improve his skating then his game could really take off at the next level. He has the IQ, passing and vision from the middle of the ice, he just needs to add another gear to his skating while possessing the puck and he’ll have the chance to be a true top 6 C in the NHL.

Thats why I was a little confused cause I didn’t think either would count against the 50 max limit if they were both signed. Hopefully the sign him soon. In years past, I remember they did announce some ELC signings around the TDL, so maybe it’s coming.

Side note; there’s quite a few guys who could end up with ELC’s by the years end. Ritchie, Behrens, Hanzel, Ivan all come to mind.
I hope Maros Jedlicka gets a elc

Is there a chance we call him up for the playoffs? 9 game experience?

Didn't we do the same with Wolski and Makar?

I guess way too early for him but would be good experience for sure.

I mean there’s always a chance, but I personally don’t see it being high. For one Playoffs for the OHL start in March and if the team succeeds can go all the way to May.

I also have a hard time seeing him earn Bednars trust in that short period. Especially when we could be adding another center via trade and Kovalenko (who appears to be struggling lately) from the KHL. We always want to ice the best roster, but training multiple players at once towards the end of the season could lead to issues heading into playoffs. Especially when two of which are not the most fleet of foot.

I think what might be more likely is an AHL PTO for playoffs and then his ELC in the off-season. Then a good opportunity to make the squad out of camp next season with at least 5-9 games.

Forgot about him since he’s been dead all year. Sounds like he should be back fairly soon but trouble is European seasons are starting to wind down. Hope he finishes year strong. I know sometimes NHL clubs will bring prospects over after their Euro seasons are done and finish year in AHL. Maybe we do that with Jedlicka? But also run the risk of breaking him again with the ogres in the AHL

Some Ritchie recognition:

That McKenna kid that leads the CHL is only 16 years old BTW (and interestingly is cousins through marriage with Connor Bedard).
