It's a business and the reality of the salary cap. Hard to build a team with 2 guys making north of 12.6 million and would have been 3 in a couple years with Makar getting a raise.
This is just suicide. Playing again in 21 hours. Basically we were hoping to win today and just lose tomorrow.
I think on average the chance of winning back to back goes down 10% I think. If you overplay your players, how much more? Ugly.

Like us he probably didn't know anything about how the negotiations were going. I can believe that even Rantanen himself wanted to stay, but either him or the agent were hell set on also getting the bag.
I mean the analysis isn't great either, don't need to look up any stats to know that scoring more goals correlates with winning games.

Yeah 29 can be sad all he wants but he had to know this was possible. There is no way the team didn't know what was going on with those negotiations.

Let's get one thing straight: the players themselves don't really care about the intricacies of a teams salary cap construction. They care about their fellow players, and especially their friends. From MacKinnon's POV, Mikko has earned a big pay cheque, and it's up to CMac to make it work. In his eyes, CMac has failed, not Rantanen for not taking a paycut.

Whatever else CMac is gonna do, he needs to do it right now, dont wait until March deadline, so the team has as much time as possible to get used to each other and develop chemistry before the playoffs. We probably gonna get few more new players. Losing a guy like Mikko disrupts the team chemistry a lot. Gotta recover ASAP
