Love the addition but I don't think they should heavily consider what was given up when it comes to potentially re-signing him. That's how you really get yourself into trouble and give all the leverage to the player/agent. He'll be 34 at the start of the next season so the three-year deal the Isles reportedly offered seems more than reasonable and if he wants more then just let him walk. Plus, searching for a new second line center every year has become somewhat of a tradition!

You can rationalize any "extra" years in the same way that we were rationalizing giving those "extra" years to Kadri. Window is only going to be open for so long. With Coyle's contract expiring one year earlier than Middelstadt's, I think the math should work out nicely. Cap increase in 2025-2026 covers Nelson's raise, cap increase in 2026-2027 plus replacing Coyle with a cheaper 3C covers Necas's raise, and this takes us to the point where Cale leaves for Calgary and closes our window

He did although one of the shifts he was out for a long time but yah he was breathing heavy on a few other shifts for no real reason.

Just an FYI. Dave Pagnotta just said on NHLN Radio that Lou offered Brock a 3-year deal north of $7.5M per to stay, and he turned it down. Says he wanted more term.

EDIT: Oh so he’s wearing 11 and Coyle 10. Again, two numbers we don’t see often in burgundy.

Tough to say, but from the years I've followed the Nord/Avs, I'd say Guy LaFleur, Warren Rychel, Ville Nieminen (and the mouth that swallowed the world) and Serge Aubin all wore #10 honorably.

Next guy was Brad May, and that might explain while not many folks have chosen it since.

As for #11, I've loved most of them from Nolan, Jones Dingman, and Kasparaitis. Took a huge hit with Trepanier and Shantz, but Nikolishin washed the stench well. Cody McCormick tried to use it to surplant McLeod as our punching bag. And then we had the likes of McGinn, Calvert, and Cogliano. This is a hard working number and suits Brock well.
