He can be offside as long as he got control of the puck and brought it in. Which he had control to move the puck between his legs. They made this rule change to get past some semantics and lessen the impact of offsides reviews. When they should just get rid of the review.

100% onside lol the puck doesn't need to be touching your stick to have possession.
So the Makar offside against Edmonton in the playoffs should’ve been offside by this logic. The puck was off his stick and the Avs tagged up was the call, if you say you can have possession without touching the puck then that play was offside.

Yeah, it's the "he got control of the puck and brought it in" that I'm struggling with, especially since it doesn't look like he even touches the puck before he's completely offside.
