It was a 3 on 2 from the red line in... Of course someone was open. Not a single forward came back the entire way and Newhook glided from blue line to blue line.

It's honestly like some of you never f***ing played hockey in your lives.
It's G's fault because he missed the net dude. It directly lead to the 3 on 2

You know they were at the end of their shift right? Girard took a perfect set up and turned it into an odd men rush going the other way. Pretty ironic, who's never played hockey before?

Been watching, but my night to make dinner. Avs looked good in 1st, ok in 2nd. Georgy looks great. Tge PK appears to be better, but still expecting a PPG against here to nake it 2-1.

These refs are terrible. 2 penalties on Avs that were both Rag players bodying up to Avs and then falling down. 2 trips on Rags on one shift, neither called cause Avs were ahead at the time. The HS called on Rags that was Avs own stick.
I agree for the most part, although I haven’t hated the reffing. The “review” was wonky as all hell and we knew there’d be a makeup call but other than that I thought it’s been ok.

Overall it’s been a fun game and it’s nice to see George playing well. He played the goal against as good as possible. As has been said, our defence hasn’t lived up to expectations again tonight, having said that though the team game has been improved on the defensive side imo.

I knew that all the missing chances was going to bite them. I hope Avs play the 3rd the way they played the 1st !

That play never even happens if G doesn't shoot wide with a clear lane from maybe 8 feet out. He SHOULD be the first one back, then completely takes himself out of the play. Of course Newhook isn't going to backcheck

The NYR took their sweet time too, because they had all the time in the world. f***ing awful from our forwards

Yup. They literally walked into the zone and had time to make 3 distinct passes and even after the goal was scored, not a forward anywhere in sight.

Just awful. The replay from behind literally showed Newhook gliding the entire way up the ice.

With the D on this team they should be fully capable of tilting the ice in the teams favour. It’s been more opportunistic than dominant sequences
Defense is more than just defensemen

It's also on the forwards for not hustling back and/or making a sloppy change. No one but Girard actually hustled back to help break up the play.
Because they were completely gassed

Because they were at the end of their ****ing shift, is anyone actually watching the game?

Newhook with another stellar game with a sub 40% xGF%. Almost Kadri’esque (when he was 22).

The Newhook line is getting killed again as Kadri scores his second of the night :(

That was a bad pinch by G at the end of a shift, and an equally bad dive right before the pass across for the goal.
Eh, I don’t mind the pinch personally. The timing of it at the end of a shift is questionable, sure, but this team is designed to play this style. He’s between the circles and followed the play directly up the ice from his end so my main frustration is why did the forwards not recognize it and cover for him.
