Well obviously that was idiotic of Bednar today. I don't know what he was thinking but he threw every line off. Then why is Bednar playing him on the wing? Maybe the issue with the 2C position isn't the players.

Except the Flames weren’t stupid to let him go. Sorry to say this, but CMac was. We probably gonna keep regretting itYou know who would make a great 2C? Kadri.
I agree that plays like that should be blown dead, but unless they make a rule of it, they’re not gonna blow it dead. Same with not blowing plays dead when players get seriously injured unless possession changes etc..Nothing like losing because the ref hands it to Toronto on a platter.
I've never seen anything as pathetic as that. You can say the ref tripped but he f***ing dove in front of that puck. The ref should have blown it dead immediately because his mistake gave one team a distinct advantage.
Not sure why a professional sports league is ok with that type of play winning the game for one team. Just a joke.
The fact that it's not a rule is pathetic. There is a difference between the puck just glancing off the ref into the corner and a ref diving in front of a puck stopping it and allowing a 2 on 1 to occur.I agree that plays like that should be blown dead, but unless they make a rule of it, they’re not gonna blow it dead. If you want to get him going then sub some different wingers in for him. Try Necas on his line or lehky. Or kiviranta for god sake. You don’t take him out of the position that he needs to play and completely fvck the entire lineup in doing so.Maybe Bednar is in panic mode trying to get Nelson going?
I get what you’re saying, but Kadri wasn’t MacKinnon either, but he was the most consistent 2C we’ve had and we let him go. Again, watching Nelson, I just don’t see a system or chemistry issues. The plays die on his stick. He can’t pass and he doesn’t shoot. That’s a confidence issue. I mean the whole system thing is being blown out of proportion. Avs don’t play a different sport. It’s still hockey, and Nelson being a such veteran player, should be able to do something out there.Seemed like a confidence think with Mitts as well.
All I'm saying is that Bednar has been given a shitload of players to try at 2C...none of them work. And that's because I believe he coaches that line to play like MacK's and the fact is... there is only one Nathan MacKinnon in the leauge. You can't possibly expect another line to play that way. Especially without Cale on D. There has to be a different system line to line and I'm not seeing that here.
Different wingers aren’t gonna change things for Nelson when he can’t even handle simple passes and when plays just die on his stick. Bednar thought maybe putting him on the wing with Nate will spark something because Nate can make a lot of players better on his lineIf you want to get him going then sub some different wingers in for him. It should be at the discretion of the ref to stop play if they deem that the puck hitting them gave one team an advantage.
It's absolutely insane that this isn't a rule. This is professional sports it shouldn't be decided by garbage like we saw tonight.
I’m gonna guess Mack and towersUnlucky game.
We were by far the better team. Leafs scored their two goals off flukey plays. Toews redirects it into our net and then the ref falls down to give the Leafs the short handed odd man rush. Blackwood should’ve had the second one.
Woll was really good but we didn’t get to second chances. He stopped what he needed to and the Leafs made sure most of our chances were one and done.
No idea what Bednar was doing with the f***ing lines. Seeing him come out of the room after the game, he was all smiles and seemed really pleased with the team and his decisions.
There were two players, I will leave them unnamed, who were REALLY mad after the game.
Definitely not a need to panic.
Come back tomorrow in Ottawa and get the 2 points, hopefully not with f***ed up lines.
Probably fake beef in the burgers up thereI'm not sure why I have complete disdain for a team like Toronto even though they have ZERO recent success and will surely not win anything with their soft loser mentality core.. but darnit to heck I don't like them
We know the Dogg gotta be one of em lmao this guy wanted NOTHING to do with what Bednar was saying during the Avs timeout.Unlucky game.

Putting him on the wing does nothing to help him find chemistry with someone. Carousel wingers for him until SOMETHING shows some life. Eventually he would spark something with a winger. It makes way more sense to try Nelson with Necas in their natural positions than putting Nelson next to Mack and fvcking the whole lineup card in the process.Different wingers aren’t gonna change things for Nelson when he can’t even handle simple passes and when plays just die on his stick. One of the analysts (don’t remember who) said Nelson can play both center and left wing. The point is, he’s not a young player, he should be able to show better than what he has so far. It’s not like he’s been really good, but his line as a whole hasn’t produced. It’s on him to play better, that’s why I think putting him with different wingers isn’t gonna change much. I mean he’s playing with Val, arguably the best winger Avs have. Him or Necas, I think Val is better just my opinion.Putting him on the wing does nothing to help him find chemistry with someone. I keep seeing that comment, Bednar’s system takes longer to learn and I don’t understand that. Is Bednar’s system a different sport than hockey? It’s still hockey. You skate, you receive passes, you pass the puck, you shoot the puck etc…. It really shouldn’t take long at all. If it’s taking long, it’s not the system, it’s the player, confidence, effort etc…I know Nelson has been underwhelming but it's a little early to throw in the towel on him. It takes time to adjust. Guy has played his career in one uniform, and Bednar's system takes longer for some guys than others.
Let's just hope it doesn't take too long. He just needs to get that first one and get some confidence. The coach didn't do him any favors tonight. If he's playing like that in the first round still then we can start piling on him.
Wouldn't mind seeing Lehkonen and Nuke swap on the top 2 lines and see how that works out. Lehky is usually a good spark plug and allows Nelson to be more of the #1 shooter on his line.
Sure probably should have been a save. But also shouldn't of ever been a shot.Make a save from a shot above the circles along the boards.
It’s not like it was an empty net. It was a shot that should have been saved and we move on as an odd bounce.
Yup, that 2 on 1 could have produced any kind of play and a goal. It could have been a pass across for easier goal or whatever. It should not happen when the ref is actually the one that creates the 2 on 1.Sure probably should have been a save. But also shouldn't of ever been a shot.
It was a play that shouldn't of ever happened, as the Avs did nothing wrong, that's what it's frustrating.
If the league had any credibility the play would have been blown dead. But they are a clown show that's totally cool with refs stopping a puck at mid ice a 1-1 game in the 3rd that creates an underserved 2 on 1 for the game winning goal.
It's just a bad look for the league for important games to be decided on a play that shouldn't have happened.
