I assume both NJ and Larsson will have a pretty mutual 1 yr prove it type deals as well. Won't be hard for Larsson to get offersheets offering more due to his draft pedigree.

Gilbert is too low, but don't know what he will end up getting. I'm fine with the other deals, but guy feeling Petry cashes in from Edmonton.

Gilbert is a UFA so that is just my opening offer, as I think there will be bidding.

Petry was a low starting point, so I stayed lower but with longer term. I'll modify that to 3m per and keep the term.

I would like to work with a trade partner on him still  so I did not want to over commit until I know who still has interest.

(estimations for 2014-15)
SALARY CAP: $69,000,000; CAP PAYROLL: $64,801,929; BONUSES: $2,850,000
CAP SPACE (22-man roster): $4,198,071

As for Re-Signings, after talking it over w/ my fellow Avs GM's (since the game started), here is what we have and we know it will fit in to our Cap (I just removed the #'s from up there and will post them down here):

RFA

Tyson Barrie: 2 years $6.5M ($3.25 AAV)
Mathieu Perreault: 2 years $5M ($2.5M AAV)
Brett Connolly: QO at 1 year $851k (prove it deal)

UFA

Paul Stastny: 7 years $37.5M ($6.25 AAV)

Once these are "approved" (as we've considered them fair deals) then we may be looking at making some additional moves as we have some players in mind we'd like to target for UFA but we need to see if they get there.

I think Perreault gets a bit more after the season he had.

I think Perreault gets a bit more after the season he had.

We're offering him nearly a 100% increase in pay to show that it is sustainable.

However I do understand the position you're coming from...

Anyone else want to weigh in on this?

ruhwedel(rfa)- 2 yrs 1.25/per
mcbain(rfa)- 2 yrs 1.2/per
ennis(rfa)- 6 yrs 3.75/per
scott(ufa)- 1 yr 900k
d'agostini(ufa)- 1 yr 1 mil

rest of rfa's qualified

I could see Ennis doing 4 years there (2 UFA years) but would need to be 4+ for more than that

A note on Petry from the Oilers is that he will now be behind Schultz and Gudbranson, so his value as an RFA will be lower to us.

I probably should not have upped it to 3m, but I think if deemed fair it makes him still a good asset for someone wanting him in trade.

Perreault should be 5m but AAV is right.

could get risky with having to honor the AAVs in real life, but I think those are fair.
I could see Barrie get a 4m on a longer term deal and Stastny may end up blowing your #s if he goes highest bidder, but you have the space to work with if that happens.

Thanks, I don't know how I did that  (in regards to Perreault)

We do have cap room left, and we can demote some players (like Rakell) who could save us some Cap Space, and we've talked about using a CBO as well if we need to...I think ultimately we'll be fine but definitely could "blow up" if Stastny goes highest bidder...absolutely

So Gerbe will need to be 1.75m and Hainsey 2.833m, but you almost had it dead on.

I think Pitkanen will go unsigned to start this season and be on recovery. He could get picked up at the deadline or for next season if he heals well, but I don't think he's in play right now.

Is that 1.2m per for Bellemore (UFA) or 1.2m total?

Stastny should be 8 years at that price (AAV), imo.

Those are good RFA deals. Demers and Wingles may be a bit high and could probably get you another year a piece (4yrs not 3), but that is a good way to lock them up early.

After looking more closely on their contract history, I think you're right on Wingels.

RFA Tommy Wingels: 4y x $2,75 mill.
