More people need to read this. Im sick of the cry babies on this board that are *****ing about AV. This is a mess Sather created and he is doing what he was hired to do.

You want to complain? Start writing to MSG with demands for Sathers firing.

I hear you brother!

I think we saw it again tonight. This team will learn and get its act together sooner rather than later. If they can play with intensity and take their men, cycle defensively man to man alertly, there's no reason this team can't put a few wins together.

It will be a fun second half, I think.

AV teams have traditionally had slow starts and strong 2nd halves. It was true in Vancouver and Montreal, wouldn't surprise me in the least if it happens with the Rangers as well.

A little late for the "sooner" part no?

Yeah, no doubt; but things don't work like they're on switches in real life. It's not a binary process. As some around here love to point out, the first year under Tortorella the team didn't make the playoffs. Then they became a virtual lock on them.

These players are developing and learning. It seems like some of them may have gotten the picture.

This is what AV's hockey philosophy looks like when It works, both tonight and against the wild, I for one love watching it. Now lets find some consistency!

AV is doing less with a more talented roster than Torts did with a less talented roster. Laziness and unprepardness is laid at the feet of the coach.
This is a mess Sather created and he is doing what he was hired to do.
No one is arguing that Sather is the worst thing to NY hockey probably since the 50's. But when players float or cannot play fundamental defense, one looks at the man behind the bench.

Because that has worked so well in the past.

Agree with True Blue. The team has been way too inconsistent this year and its on the coach. If the team came out flat, Torts was blamed but now when the team comes out flat its not AV's fault?

The entire Rangers team is screaming at the ref, Boyle breaks his stick over the post and AV is standing there with no expression like he's waiting for a cab.

I understand he's not into killing the refs on calls, but given the time in the season, the amount of bad calls going against the team and the importance of that goal, he should have been on the top of the boards screaming and getting ejected, for nothing more than a rallying point for the team.

This team has had a terrible home stand and had a chance to close out a team in regulation who they could be fighting with for a wildcard spot at the end of the year. At times they've been devoid of emotion and passion in their game, but last night they were playing good hockey. AV missed an opportunity, regardless of what would have come from it, to energize his team and the building for when they come back for following home games... A place that they need to start winning in if they want to make the playoffs.

Forget the X's and O's, emotionally, he missed the boat here IMO

the system change for the team all together might not have gone as good as we could have hoped for(so far) ..
but for kreider and zuc it has been a major part of why they have played like they have...(IMO)

Well at least AV got 2 guys going..unfortunately he got the entire rest of the team trying to figure out where they are on any given night.

So toxic that he got his team to game 7 of the finals

Please

Anyone trying to put the sole blame on AV is ignoring the most pertinent issue

The 09-10 team was, on paper, much worse than this team. On D and from the top line down.

AV's defensive system is not the only reason we're bad, but looking at the Penguins score essentially all of their goals due to defensive breakdowns is the icing on the cake of awful D this year.

Half a season of the worst defense this team has played in 5 years.

well no disagreement there...

they are in transition.. from bad to worse...

Im not liking what i'm seeing from AV so far, but there needs to be some personnel change to bring in the talent to play AV's system.

I don't think Torts systems required as much talent to execute. Not that they were that impressive with his system, but it catered to the mediocre talent on this roster...

The man D has got to go. Our defense has regressed and the personnel is largely the same as it has been for the past few years.

Switch to zone or a hybrid, and if/when Sather can find the right players that excel in transition, then the team can play man-to-man.

On paper doesn't mean much. I'd say the teams are pretty similar. There's no McDonagh, and that's about it. Gaborik was also phenomenal in 2010, while Nash has been terrible thus far. Our lineup is full of soft one dimensional players that aren't even good at that one dimension.

Did anyone hear about how Maloney and Michaletti are talking about PIT's forecheck and shot blocking?

PITs doing that now? Playing zone D, manning up, and blocking shot after shot.
