If a betting site still had the Rocket winner options open, might be fun to throw a few dollars on McDavid.

I think it says more about the old school athlete in him willing to fight through the adversity than sit out knowing there was no permanent damage as was reported Unlike a Kawhi Leonard or Frederik Andersen who need to take the extra time to load manage or be at a certain level of health to compete properly at a high level. Probably says more about the player than the organization.

And he's going to give all that up as a UFA to go to ... Arizona?

Not a chance.

Elite players like him, Crosby, McDavid, Eichel want to be the very best, and win. For the latter two, the frustration in not winning is clear. Auston has it good in Toronto and he knows it. As long as the team is competitive each year and he believes they have a good chance to win, he's not going anywhere.

I really hope you’re right. Leafs are built to be competitive for a long time and that should keep him here. Only place I see him going is one of the Cali teams if they start rounding out their rebuild. But I think he’ll stay in T.O.

I think the time being referenced in the article is when he sat out for like a week or two and had has weak shot for another week or two

I doubt the Leafs would make him play through an injury. It was probably his call on the pain.

Exactly. The doctors also said it was fine that he was playing when it wasn't 100%. Certainly looks like his wrist is feeling better now, so I guess the people who are qualified to do their job made the right decisions.

Seriously though, McD is capable of catching him, I won't feel confident until the final game is over. And with three more games against a Canucks team that now looks like they've packed it in early, all bets are off.

It feels like it's still not 100%. I think our PP struggles are directly tied to it... we still have a format that optimizes his shot off the wing, but he hasn't sniped as many like that recently. It's crazy to think that this might not actually be his peak in scoring.

McDavid may catch him, Vancouver pulling their goalie every game, even with 7 minutes to go. McDavid already cashed in 1 empty netter.
