I think everybody knew it was just humour. Obviously, nobody would actually think Matthews (currently 5 points in 3 games and dominating play) was "passive bullpoop", worse than Kucherov/Mackinnon/Draisaitl, and that perfectly tipped goals after throwing a hit, stealing the puck, and battling in front of the net are meaningless.Sometimes in such a hurry to defend they don't even read the post.
Even Data had a sense of humour.
whoosh ...

This has not aged well.It was good to see Matty deal with the unsuspecting attack by Stamkos. It wasn't really a fight, nor did Matty get to square up, but it's a reminder that Matty isn't a baby faced rookie anymore. He is here to win and wll not back down in his pursuit.
Stamkos may have inadvertently woken up Matty. Even a 15% more motivated and focused Matthews would spell trouble for T.B.
Well said.Auston Matthews doesn't seem to be rewarding this fanbase or franchise with any kind of playoff breakout. Just the same inconsistent regular season play. On one shift, off for three more. Sometimes physical and fighting in traffic but usually not. Getting outscored and outplayed by Anthony Cirelli halfway through an importantseries. Getting lapped by other superstars in the game. Playing more and more timid in the big moments. Headed in the wrong direction.
Big Joe ThoWhen was the last time we’ve seen such a dominant regular season player display this much subpar play in the playoffs through their career?
He just doesn’t have it.
I agree with you but he's NOT going anywhere - unless he signs as an UFA with another team.Hes lazy doesn't seem to care and is scared to play playoff hockey.
He can't be on this team if they want to win.
Matthews only wants money he can find it somewhere else, Trade him.
And there is TWO. One more.Nice to see Matthews light the lamp. Now we need TWO more.

Get a load of this bad opinion. 2 goals in a 4-1 comeback in the playoffs seems like playoff clutchness. I definitely didn’t agree with this an hour ago and rescind my like to make myself look smart.![]()
Yeah I mean tonight doesn't entirely erase the past but I'll happy not delete my post and leave it there to eat crow if Matty starts doing that.
He needed a night like that to break through in a time when his team needed it.

When Fred Gauthier got going he was pretty fast too. Hockey is about acceleration. Nylander and McDavid accelerate fast, while Marner has slow acceleration. Nylander is one of the best skaters in the game, Marner is not. Marner has poor skating technique.JT 32.2 and Marner 33.7. If your a smart hockey fan, u know this is b.s. Im not sure if u made that up or someone else but its wrong and that is not info on nhl.com. Willy and Marner have very similar top speeds, Mcdavid was clocked at 40.9 in game. No chance Nylander is 39,9.
