Matthews has a long way to go to catch up to the likes of McDavid, Pasta etc. I mean lets be fair he is tied with Nylander and Hyman in the middle of the pack.

I know Matthews is behind in his goal totals compared to last season. However, he's the reigning Hart Trophy, Ted Lindsay Award, and 2x Rocket Richard Trophy winner. If anything, I would still rank him ahead of Pastrnak despite him being ahead of Matthews in total goals scored.

At the same point of the season he’s not even that far behind though

Seriously though… does anything really top that first NHL game from Auston Matthews?

There’s literally going to be dozens of Bedards enter the NHL over the next 100 years.

Nobody is ever having a first NHL game to out do the first game Matthews had…. ever.

And we STILL lost that game. So Leafy.

there is only one other guy in the league in Matthews Tier and he's no where near as good all round. He's fast and skilled and drags 70 point centres (drais a lw) to Hart trophies. Makar is close to that tier

I might be mistaken but are you implying draisaitl is a 70 point center? Because that’s laughable.
Firstly, Drai won that hart playing Center with RNH and Yamamoto for a large part. Drai probably played Center the most in 2019-2020

Moreover, draisaitl is at the very least a 100 point player. He’s done it every year since 2018-2019, it’s disingenuous to say anything else.

Draisaitl may not be great defensively and hasn’t played Center much this season, but that doesn’t take away from what he’s been the past half decade

I’m all for trashing other teams players(lol), but that’s being a bit unrealistic

If there is one area where Matthews is better at then Draisaitl, I think it's in their defensive game.

Nope! Mcd sneaks onto his " line" all the time, plus pp. Drai is at best a seventy point player if he had to face the best d in the league day in day out. The way it's set up now is teams best d go against mcd, mc d gets off ice best d's get off ice, drai comes on. 30 seconds later mcd sneaks on and vola! Points for drai. Then there is the pp..

Drai can't hold Matthews jock on his best day!! Hate all you want, it's the truth!!

If there is one area where Matthews is better at then Draisaitl, I think it's in their defensive game.
and skating, and shot, and iq,I mean should I keep going?

Leading all forwards in the league with blocked shots

Top 10 in that stat:

For some reason I believe leading in an important but basic stat might be what it takes to get him the proper Selke recognition he deserves. (Nominee not winner)

The day that changed the Leafs forever.

Lou Lam Drafts Auston Matthews.

This is what gives me hope for the Leafs future that a Stanley Cup is possible, because it will be lead by this guy and Leafs best ever draft pick.

He's gonna cost about 15m to resign. He may only score 40 this season... and we have another tough go at Tampa more than likely to escape the first round. Which means we may once again get stumped in the playoffs with no success to show.

I'm ok with it. But is everyone else ok with that?

I don't like the $15m number, but what are you going to do? With him here and with this 'core' you are making the playoffs every year, and will always have a punchers chance (at least) of advancing. Sure, the bottom of the roster may not look that good, but that is the case with most good teams.

I just wish greed would get trumped by the desire to win. He's already made bank and a few mil off the table every season isn't going to matter to him in the long run but for our ability to surround him with talent, would mean the world.

But w/e...
