We're not catching Boston, let him get to 100% for the playoffs.

LET THE BOY REST!!!

I called it that something was off and some ailment has been lingering with him this season.

He needs to rest for as long as necessary. This seems to be a recurring pattern and a bit concerning. My hunch is that it's his wrist. Which would also explain why he is hesitant getting into altercations.

ALMOST EVERYBODY CALLED IT LOL.

This is exactly it. Matthews isn’t injured, it looks like he is trying to adjust his game to be able to shoot from more areas and be a bit more defensively responsible. It’s going to be an adjustment year for him because he’s trying new things. His goal totals might go down but he looks like more of a complete player.

You sure about that?

You sure about that?

yes, this just seems like load management. all these players are playing with little nicks and nacks. Matthews was shooting normally and dangling with the extras today in practice. Shot isn't affected at all.

nothing more than giving Matthews a full 6 days of rest to come back and be refreshed for Boston this weekend.

Is it in fact a hand related issue or is this speculation?

pure speculation, no one knows anything.

To be fair he also called it
Kid took that too personal, along with the others that liked the comment, like ACC .

I was merely sending a friendly nudge to the number of people that were arguing during GDT that there's nothing wrong. Didn't disregard that no one else said anything about it, lol. Sometimes when kids get triggered they let their emotions get the best of them. :sarcasm:

Someone should remind Auston… not all NHL teams have the level of medical staff the Toronto Maple Leafs have.

As if he needs another reason to finish his career in Toronto.

This team is a bubble team without Matthews.

They're a top 2 team with him.

I think he's pretty f***ing valuable.

He just as noticeably absent on the offensive end as he is on the defensive end these 2 games.

Is anyone surprised at these numbers of Marner, Nylander, and Tavares with Matthews in the lineup compared to the times he's missed some games.

PPG totals paint an incomplete picture without mentioning how many games are involved in each sample. I'd also assume that each of Marner, Nylander and Tavares receives more TOI per game without Matthews in the lineup.

Still not sure this is just a lingering wrist injury.

wrist doesn't explain why he's been clumsy on his skates all season and frequently getting gassed like Phil Kessel after a long shift.

Every time he hits a slump it gets blamed on injuries, most good player have entire down seasons in their career.

Has he also been injured for 5 consecutive winner take all games?

If I was expected to carry the team and my teammates don't do a thing to offset the hacks and slashes I'm getting every night I'd be looking for new teammates, a new GM and some better pads, guards and gloves.

It looks like a back or core problem IMO. Any puck that he has to stretch to receive is getting fumbled and he isn’t able to change angles by shifting his weight on the fly.
