One of the most impressive records ever IMO is the MTL season where they only lost 8 games, and only one of those was a home game. I thought that could never be duplicated because after all, that was before the cap era which is why it was possible for a team to be so stacked. Here is a list of HOF players on that roster:
Goal
=======
Ken Dryden
Defence
=======
Larry Robinson
Guy Lapointe
Serge Savard
Forward
=======
Guy Lafleur
Steve Shutt
Yvan Cournoyer
Jacques Lemaire
Bob Gainey
That was an 80 game season, Boston is at 40 games played and is so far, pretty much duplicating what MTL did despite having only 3 players as far as I can tell that could one day, be in the Hall of Fame. This is a team that was supposed to start fading by now as Chara's gone, Bergeron is 37 years old now etc. but instead, they outscoring the opposition by almost 2 goals per game so far. How they are doing this is completely beyond my comprehension and is easily the story of the year. Mind blowing Stuff!
