Hyman is the reason Matthews wasn't PPG in his rookie season btw. Matthews was second in the league behind McDavid in HDCF created and Hyman converted 7 percent of those. The league average conversion rate on HDCF was 22.5 percent. So he was converting the whole season one third of the league's efficient rate. We would be looking at arguably his third 100 point season at least and third 50 goal season right now if it wasn't for Hyman.

As someone mentioned last night, I don’t see how this version of Matthews doesn’t show up big in the postseason. He is on another tier right now. Every time he hits the ice he makes something happen offensively. Then there is his defensive game too which is at/approaching Selke level.

He is going to be on a mission this year and I don’t think opponents will be able to shut him down like years past.

Only way he doesn’t show up is an injury

This guy sees 60 goals within his grasp but he’s looking beyond that. It’s truly telling to his maturity and how committed he is to winning
