Iginla has broken his hand in a fight, but I agree that it's uncommon.

Super uncommon and honestly, you do it a couple times as a skill guy, you don't get messed with as much because others know you have it in you to mess them up.

Right now guys push and prod Matthews, Marner & JT etc because they don't really push back. The cross check Matthews did to Dahlin was worth it for him.

I mean I do think Auston pulling a Lecavalier vs Iginla just once would be helpful. But he has to pick the right opponent and it has to be in the playoffs. And he only has to do it once.

Who would the target be? Like with Vinny-Iginla, it has to be a star player, and a big guy.

So if we play FLA....Barkov or Ekblad.

If it's TB....Hedman I guess?

If it's BOS...probably have to be McAvoy or Lindholm.

I just wanna see Matthews lose his shit once, go fully unhinged and dummy someone. The guy is strong to the point where I think he himself doesn't realize it. Go full psycho and people will leave you alone.

Unfortunately, NHL officiating and corruption are purposely suppressing the Leafs...imagine if the Leafs get their fair share of powerplays and not be amongst the bottom teams of the league year in and year out, and if Matthews gets his fair share of drawing penalties, not like only drawing 7 penalties all year while McDavid has drawn 40 plus. How Leafs ownership could tolerate this bullcrap and not be like the Rangers calling out the league is beyond me. It will take a miracle for the Leafs to ever advance deep into the playoffs without the refs trying to screw the players over because they play for the Leafs...what an atrocity...imagine you dream of winning the Cup since you're a kid, but because you play for the Leafs, you're at a disadvantage because officiating likes to screw the Leafs over and over.

Imagine being a fan who believes this crap.

I thought he had the perfect guy in Backlund last game vs Calgary when he tried pushing him around, could have even pulled a Crosby, thrown off the gloves and just start throwing at Backlund before he knows what is what. Completely dummy the guy and everyone knows he has it in him.

Definitely needs to pick and select the right guy if he's going to do it as you stated.

Can you explain what it means?

Imagine being a fan who believes this crap.

Imagine being a fan that's naive. There's only one Cup awarded every year. People at the top will do anything to ensure their team comes out ahead, and if it means other teams do not, so be it. The NHL is still pretty much old school, and an old boys club run by a handful of powerful and loud owners, and not everything is transparent, but hey, don't blindly follow, just weigh the evidence.

I know pace is often criticized but after last season and this, I think it's a function that can be used to show how great of a season matthews is having. Over an 82 game season he's on track for 66 goals and 114pts. McDavid’s pace is 121pts. I was pretty shocked to see how close the points gap is over an 82 game

Yes, he should beat Marchand to a pulp in game one to set the tone and never fight again.

I can't think of any possible way this plan could be improved on. Well, maybe beat Marchand to a pulp one more time when that clown is about to retire, just to say goodbye. :)

I started watching sports around 2000. I've watched Kawhi Leonard, Roy Halladay, Mats Sundin, Carlos Delgado, Vlad Gurrerro Jr, Jose Bautista and Vince Carter. Matthews is really up their with the best. Might be at the top of that list with Kawhi and Halladay.

Matthews just screams captain to me too. He is the vocal leader on and off the ice as far as I can tell. He's 6'3 220, hits, plays great d... he's perfect at everything. He's basically the perfect player. He's the Mike Trout of hockey. He's the perfect captain and he only wears the A part time. Hopefully that changes one day with all due respect to Tavares.

This year in the playoffs. It's gonna happen you watch
