Leaf playoff games are apparently not as big a priority...this makes my f***ing blood boil.

Well if Mitch won as many individual awards some would cut him a bit of slack. How many has he got in his 9 years. He won’t be getting betterFunny enough that's what Marner is pilloried for, but somehow Mattews gets a pass and yet he's involved in the same failure.
Yeah, that's a bad, bad look. Millions of dollars to play in a proverbial sandbox. Makes the fan's heart sink a little, doesn't it?Leaf playoff games are apparently not as big a priority...this make my f***ing blood boil.

Hockey Night in Canada, after the tribute to Bob Cole, to go down 3-1 against the Bruins. Lifeless, gutless performance where the captain QUIT and left the team midway through. The series was lost in this game, and Matthews didn't want to be seen anywhere near the crime scene. Did we get even an explanation as to why? Of course not.
For some reason, some folks need more proof of this guy's character but the proof has been in the pudding for years.
Yeah, gotta say that whole sequence was a tough pill to swallow for Leafs fans. Go down to the Bruins at home, staring down a 3-1 deficit in the series, Willie, Auston and Mitch all yelling at each other on the bench… and Auston doesn’t come out for the third. Or Game 5. Or Game 6…
No explanation on what happened, gets the captaincy, contract kicks in and proceeds to have the most miserable, injury filled, inconsistent year of his career, spending months to get right for 4 Nations, only to be load manager for 4 Nations.
A lot needs to be unpacked right now.
I think the most surprising thing for me is Matthews actually admitting this is a different injury.
I don't see what he has to gain from saying that.
Could have just gone along saying he's been dealing with something this season.
This guy is just going to be chronically injured his entire career. I would not want to be the ones giving him 8 years when he's 30...especially if we still haven't accomplished shit by then.
He's always talked the talk and never walked the walk. I do not expect anything different tonight. Eichel has looked better for the USA.He can talk all he wants about how he would never miss this game and that it’s nice to have home town support in Boston but let’s see if he shows up and is a difference maker.
Greed got the best of him. He saw the cap potentially rising and said let’s do short term so I can cash in later.Honestly with a bad back he may have screwed himself not taking 8 years. That was a really silly thing to do.
All we need tonight is for Auston to simply be himself in the big moments.
LFG CANADA!

The most surprising thing for me is that his style of play isn't one that would see him as a candidate to being chronically injured. This guy is just going to be chronically injured his entire career. I would not want to be the ones giving him 8 years when he's 30...especially if we still haven't accomplished shit by then.
Why do the Bruins release details of everything that's going on with Charlie McAvoy's shoulder injury but we have to play Matthews Injury Mystery season after season?
