Fair. I'll amend my statement to say that there's a very good chance that he would have had three 60 goal seasons by now if not for a global pandemic.

I don't know if Matthews has 10 more goals this season left in him or not but I know this, 160 goals the last 3 years, twice he's hit 60.
He's the first player since Bure to have multiple 60 goal seasons.

There hasn’t been 10 guys in the history of the league that have multiple 60 goal season. Matthews is unreal.

It’s going to be extremely hard but I hope he gets hot and can hit 70. It’s not crazy for him to have 2 hat tricks in 10 games plus a few games with a goal.

10 goals in 9 games is very possible for him, he had a 5 game stretch where he had 10 goals so he can do it.
Marner being injured Isn't making it easier.
But regardless this dude is special and I feel honoured I get to watch him every night.

I really wanted to see 70 goals from Matthews and 100 assists from McDavid. The latter will happen for sure and Matthews still has an outside chance, but he needs to get hot and score two hat tricks at least.

Bit of a stretch. 41 in 56 would not guaranteed become 60 in a full season. I’d say 50/50 at best that year

Quick math suggests he would have been on pace for 60 but he would have had to play 82.

Yeah which he hasn’t done since his rookie year and it’s not a guarantee he’d keep up that pace. He was pacing for 70 for a while this year and now seems very very unlikely to hit it.
He’s great don’t get me wrong, was just responding to the claim that he’d have 3 60 goal seasons if not for Covid. He might have 3 but certainly wouldn’t proclaim it as fact.

He had a 35 game stretch where he had 39 goals. If he really wants it he has a good shot.
