If he is signed and play a bunch until then and do well in his role, of course there will be some teams open to add him to their playoff push. Depth guys as always a shot.
Commodore sucked though. Wasn't a need to sign him at all. Him talking in the media about being better than he was at that time is just bull. He seems like quite the tool now as well.
There may have been a need, but Commie sucked. There's a reason he didn't catch on anywhere else, and it's not because Babcock is a big meany.
If Watson is called up on occasion to provide some toughness I guess I don't mind it. I haven't seen him play. Hopefully he can be more involved in the play than Kostin was. Ideally the toughness would come from regular roster players, but the Wings don't really have those guys at the moment.
It's not about having a mean streak, he's not good at leveraging. He gets pushed over by smaller guys in the league, he wouldn't last 10 seconds with an enforcer.Number one reason I rag on Rassmussen. If he had a mean streak, then he'd be filling the role he has now PLUS freeing up the roster spot now being pegged for Watson.
I blame EA sports for that. They apply it exactly how you think (Because who is interested in having waiver claims in a sports game)I always thought 2 way meant he was waiver proof and could be called back and forth from AHL to NHL, learn something new everyday!

So, if Watson was signed, waived and cleared, he is getting called right back up to take the 13th forward spot?
Franchise mode looks pretty good this year.Probably where my understanding came from, thankfully I have not sent a dime to EA sports in a long time because they destroyed offline gameplay for me.
I think so too, at least on paper, it accrues cap space and keeps things flexible as Ed is the only waiver exempt player, and SY is not sending him down unless he is injured. He could just stay down because they have 12 healthy forwards.
Let the cap space grow.
Holl will stay down too.
You can't send an injured player down aside from conditioning assignments, which still counts against roster and salary cap. It's part of the CBA, they have to go on IR/LTIR. Think of it similar to "workers comp", on the job injury can't result in loss of pay.I think so too, at least on paper, it accrues cap space and keeps things flexible as Ed is the only waiver exempt player, and SY is not sending him down unless he is injured.
I know, by injured, I was talking a conditioning stint, sorry if not clearYou can't send an injured player down aside from conditioning assignments, which still counts against roster and salary cap. AHL players that get injured during NHL pre-season start off the season on injured/non-roster and get paid NHL salary.
Ed is not getting sent down. Bad preseason or not, he's better than Maatta, Petry, AlJo and Holl. (and probably Gus too)
While I'm not sure it's a generally great idea having Ed do that, I absolutely think he will. He seems to have a bit of a mean/surly streak. He's big, he knows it, and he seems to actually enjoy occasionally reminding folks of that fact. It's not about having a mean streak, he's not good at leveraging. I really think if he had the ability to fight that he would. I also think Ed will wind up throwing a few punches.
