But you are presuming that the Sedins had sex together, which they haven't, nor was it implied in the interview.

You are creating a false "homophobic" story out of your implications that they have had sex.

MY implications?

As much as I wish I was that good at hockey and had that kind of money I am not Jaime Benn or Tyler Seguin.

Homophobic connotations? Does anyone have a transcript? Because if "these twin brothers probably bang each other" is the essence of what they said, then any "homophobic connotation" is being projected by the listener. Considering they're identical twins, the target is most likely incest; the fact that it would be homosexual incest doesn't necessarily have any bearing on anything.

This is how I see it as well. The negative connotation isn't about being gay, it's about being incestuous. You could say the exact same thing about a brother/sister duo with the exact same connotations and the exact same impact in terms of being insulting and inappropriate.

I guess I shouldn't be, but I am still a little bit shocked at how the Sedins have been treated by opposing fans and media over the years. The guys are the epitome of sports role models.

Benn is the team's captain, I would be a little embarrassed if the team I cheer for captain acted like this. But then again, I am used to Sedin, Naslund, Linden types...

The only slight problem I have with it is he's saying that as the representing captain of the org, literally wouldn't give a flying **** otherwise (like if Seguin had said it)

People to this day still get their undies in a twist over crosby saying he doesn't like the flyers in an interview, captain obvious there. Yet while harmless compared to what's said on the ice and stupid, people here are dismissing pretty transparent as far as the public knows unfounded insinuations of homosexuality, incest, what have you openly to the media as representatives of the league. Football players get fined for excessive celebrations, that's making a mountain out of a molehill.

In other words you people have some odd priorities at what you pretend to be outraged by.

Where does Jamie imply that the Sedins have had sex together?

Saying "I wonder what else they do together" or whatever the exact quote.. is not implying them having sexual encounters. It could be seen as such, and apparently a lot of you see it that way, but it is not directly him implying sexual relations. So.. you can see it in a dirty, immature way. I will see it in a mature, funny joke way.

Have a good day.

It's blatantly obvious that Benn and Seguin were joking about them having sex with each other.

They were talking about sharing a room together right before this and it's pretty obvious what they were implying. Social gathering talking hockey with friends? Ok, let's see them sitting around in a circle and saying this to the Sedins faces. I'm sure they'd just laugh it off because they are all best friends. :shakehead

I meant you, and your friends. Making the same comments while just hanging around. Probably doesn't get the same shaking of heads you seem to be sending over the interwebs.

They should be because if they don't then it makes it seems like the NHL doesn't give a damn. I understand what you mean though.
I understand you point of view as well. Just for me personally it is almost too obvious that they already punished themselves because as far as i know the twins have the reputation to be very classy off the ice while guys like Benn and especially Seguin always come across as stereotypical frat boys. Plus i'm pretty sure that their coach/GM will have a very unpleasant conversation with them after hearing about it.

Everyone needs to lighten up. It was a joke. Yeah it wasn't a joke you should make on a radio station but not really a big deal. I'm sure a lot of you make these kind of jokes with your friends all the time.

I don't expect that this will bother the Sedins at all, they're far too classy to let some clownish comments bother them. This is the same as the Cindy Crosby and Chrissy Pronger stuff - juvenile and misogynistic is about the worst.

I would expect this to bother Stars fans and management, as it looks poorly on the organization that their two best players have obvious maturity and character issues. Even most teenagers I know would have taken the high road with the line of questioning in that interview. You just don't say those kinds of things, especially on radio.

As Canuck fan it bothers me simply that the Sedins are among the best ambassadors for the NHL, class acts on and off the ice, and yet there's this juvenile lack of respect from the likes of Benn, Seguin, Milbury, Bolland etc.

where was the funny joke? what made it humorous for you?

The fact that as 30 whatever years old the Sedins still do everything together. They work together, they travel together, they sleep in the same room on the road, they sit next to each other at work, etc. etc. etc.

It's funny that as 30 whatever year olds they still do everything together that a 10 and 11 year old brother pairing would do.

I find it comical.

For me, just the fact that it's edgy and pokes fun at people. I laugh at everything, sexual jokes included, and jokes on myself.

Setting "restrictions" for basic edgy humor is a never-ending runaround. You don't think it's funny? Fine. Turn off the station.

For the record, I live in Vermont. I am neither homophobic nor against twins sharing the same shaving patterns.

Have the anti-PC, "this generation whines too much" police made their voices heard yet?

Dumb things said by Benn/Seguin here. I get that it was probably a quick in the heat moment but you gotta think before you throw something like that out.

I understand that some make joking comments like this to their friends, but I do not. I do not find it funny that friends would try to use homosexuality as a way to joke with a friend as if there would actually be something wrong with it if it were true.

On top of that, I'm pretty sure that the Sedins and seguin/benn are not best buds. They are just making fun of people that they don't know.

maybe you should research the bond identical twins have. Their actions are not at all out of the norm for identical twins

But in this case there actually WOULD be something wrong with it if it were true.

That's the joke -- they're not picking on two random roommates, they're picking on two brothers. And while that's still not OK, it's a lot less not-OK than you're implying.

Its funny how Seguin keeps repeating how much he's matured since getting traded and then he does stuff like this. I also didn't realize how much a ******-nozzle Benn sounds like, you would never hear the classy captains of other teams, like Bergeron, Kopitar, Crosby, Toews, Ovi, etc making comments like that on two of the top players in the league.

I agree, it wasn't the brightest thing to say as "fringe celebrities" over a radio station.

But, guess what, anyone (including the Sedin twins) with even a slight sense of humor laughs at this. I just hate how people complain that all they ever hear from pro athletes are the staged, monotonous interview answers and then when a couple go on the radio and act goofy, it's horribly offensive.

I consider myself a decent human being and I make jokes 100000 x worse than this all the time, as do my friends. Do you just tell knock-knock jokes to your friends?

When people have to explain why a joke/comment is funny, then how funny is it really?

Meanwhile, in reality, Canucks fans called them the "Sedin sisters" before they broke out years ago.
