I understand that and I have agreed with it saying that doing it over the radio was not the smartest thing to do.
I just think, before people react, they should have a little perspective. People finding it funny does not making them homophobic. People finding it not funny does not make them humorless. I will apologize for comments I made earlier in the thread that could have implied the latter.
At this point, I'm sick of admitting that I found it "snicker-worthy" and being told I'm a homophobe in return, which is laughable to anyone who actually knows me.
Suspend Benn and Seguin, penalize Seguin 20 points in the scoring race and ban the Stars from being playoff eligible for the next three years. This is an out rage. How dare young guys joke around?!
Can't believe the amount of people crying over this. Big frigging deal!
Can't get overly offended over a pretty vague jab, it could be interpreted in a number of ways. Seems like people are putting words in Benn's mouth, and then getting offended by their own interpretation of the joke.
The people who are saying this is homophobic are stretching it if you ask me, and if people judged me by the things I find funny I'd probably be seen as the worst person on earth.
Whoa, what's with all the outrage over a simple joke? Why are you getting so easily offended by my choice of words? Geez man. I hate it when people get all up-tight like that. Get a sense of humor man. Can't say anything without offending someone these days. Geeeeez.
Most pro athletes have never had to be responsible their whole life or held accountable, I expect this kind of behavior.
I'm 100% sure the Sedins have had to deal with this stuff their entire NHL careers. I seriously doubt they give much of a ****.
It's probably the most over-used chirp against them on the ice. The fact that someone said it in a Radio show shouldn't really bother them.
Plus most of the people that are actually offended by it are people trying to stretch it into some homophobia which is idiotic
So who's standards are we supposed to operate by? Yours? Or the most sensitive person we can find?
whoa I never said it was okay..
I said I think the reaction it drew out of people is ridiculous. Not that the comment was okay. It wasn't.
Holy crap people get offended so easily. These are professional athletes. I hate to break it to you, but most of them aren't classy. Class is not necessary in sports.
people will get offended over any silly thing nowadays
I would highly recomend reading this article that Jason Collins wrote (the first openly gay NBA player) before you guys bother commenting further on this topic.
You may not think this kind of stuff is a big deal, but this is exactly thing kind of stuff the NHL had tried to put a stop to with its "You Can Play" campaign.
