Score 100 pts and you'll get the MVP. Get dummied by Marchand and mocked by Bolland, Seguin, and Benn, and you know there are a lot more players who think like they do.

From the way they entered the league to the way they've played the game, they deserve it.

Lol, the players you mention in your post who you seem to respect tells me a lot about how valid your opinion on the Sedins is

It should be clear to HF that the Sedins are not well respected in the league, and rightfully so.

That's just stupid. Daniel won the player voted MVP.

I suspect there are two different dynamics at play here:

1) The Sedins have been around the NHL for a long time now as excellent players with nearly no controversy around them. They are probably highly respected by the vast majority of their peers, about half of whom rarely have contact with the Sedins other than at league-sponsored events.

2) Seguin and Benn are younger guys and Seguin in particular has only been in the Western Conference for a couple of years. These guys have a lot of close contact with the Sedins as opponents but don't have as much of a long-term, collegial relationship with them.

So it may be a case of the league in general respecting them more than these two guys in particular.

Look. This innuendo has been around forever about the Sedins. They share a bed, they are gay, the "Sedin sisters" bit is all part of the "book" on them. When anyone talks about the Sedins sharing a bed they are legitimizing this rumour that they are gay and they are casually saying that it's ok to joke about being gay.

Jamie Benn - who grew up in Victoria and was a self admitted Canucks' fan - has heard all these rumours. He knows better than anyone what the joke is about.

It's time for the joke about the Sedins being "gay sisters" to stop.

It's not funny to the Sedins.

It's offensive and hurtful to gay people and women.

You spin a really interesting story with little facts. They were clearly only talking about the dynamic between brothers. You all choose for some sick reason to assume they were talking about sex.

This is just a microcosm of the much larger issue of sports culture, culture in the dressing room, and general ******-bro attitudes in competitive sports that can lead to casual racist, homophobic, misogynistic, xenophobic, etc etc comments.

But don't mind me - I'm just the PC police. :sarcasm:

What the ****? My "perfect standards of society"?

This is exactly the issue. You've now given yourself permission to judge my entire character because of this.

That might be more childish and immature than the comments by Benn and Seguin.

Ohhh now calm down brother. No need to get upset, I just made a harmless comment, I thought we were just joking bro.

You deserve a pat on the back for the double standards you just set though.

As a gay male who has endured peoples classless hate towards me I can say there is literally nothing in what they said that insulted me... Everyone here is overreacting like crazy

And no one here gives a damn that you are gay, except apparently him, because he can't see that what he does actually excludes you.

Most/all of the players criticizing the Sedins fit the same mold: immature, selfish meatheads who combined probably haven't done a fraction of he charitable work and giving the Sedins have.

Can you confirm that Benn has heard all of these rumors that you have heard? There's yet another assumption that you're making. So I'll ask once again.

Where in the interview was it said that they share a bed???

I could care less what other people have said in the past, present, or future.

Where did Benn say this? Hmm? I'll take audio, a transcript, a video. Anything that shows he said they share a bed. If you can't show proof that he said that, then you fail to defend your comment, and it shows that you're making this more colorful than it is based off of what OTHERS may have said.

uh??

We hear a stupid comment from a player who has already been long criticized for being immature and stupid, and that makes it clear that the Sedins are not well respected?

What about the countless comments we continuously hear from players and coaches praising them? I guess that doesn't make headlines, so everyone ignore them.

The Sedins are very well respected by the majority of the league.

and your "rightfully so" comment just makes you look ignorant. How is it "rightfully so" they are respected? These guys are among the most charitable players in the league. They constantly show what class acts they are. They've been voted by players as being outstanding players. How many players who's won the Pearson, Hart, Art Ross, aren't respected by the league? Let me guess - just the Sedins??
Well said NFITO. None of those four players he mentioned are going to win the Lady Byng or peak on an IQ chart.

And what about the people who don't see it as a joke?

They should probably lighten up Francis. Or gain a sense of humor. Or not not go out of their house for fear of hearing something 'offensive'.

But you're 100% right.

Those 2 (Stars) just need to grow up and realize they're in the big league now. This is high school level insults. Maybe a fine should be given just to give them a wake-up call.

There's nothing remotely homophobic about the conversation. The only thing anyone is guilty of is being insensitive to the Twins stereotype. The host was poking fun at Jamie asking if he and Jordie were as codependent as the Sedin's ... an unfair accusation.

That's why the host mocked their facial hair. He was alluding to twins dressing alike and doing the same things. It's low hanging fruit by the radio host, and you're just trying to create something out of nothing to say that Benn or Seguin were being homophobic. Get over it.

Your dirty minds made the jump that they were talking about incest when it wasn't even mentioned.

Don't be ridiculous.

"Hey, BigG44, you know how you and your brother share a room? Who knows what else you do in there together? Do you like it when your father joins you two in the room late at night? "

Bad example, but maybe it will get through to you. "Your dirty mind made the jump that I was were talking about incest when it wasn't even mentioned ".... Give me a break, it was very clear what they were implying

From the way they entered the league to the way they've played the game, they deserve it.

What a well-reasoned and expressed onion. Good bye.

You've said this twice now.

The first time, I asked you to explain. You replied that they said "Sedin sisters". I pointed out that they did not say that. You did not reply.

Now here you are, saying the same thing again.

What gives?

Some homosexuals are effeminate, which is defined a person showing the characteristics of a woman, so obviously Benn and Seguin have a hatred of women that they were subtly expressing! :sarcasm:

Because generally speaking...you shouldn't try to offend other people? Isn't that one of the tenets of basic human decency?

If Seguin and Benn want to go on the radio and say the Sedins are garbage hockey players, have at it. But what does bringing up the question of "what else" the Sedins do behind closed doors have to do with hockey?

But yeah it's a real shame, we could be living in a world where players hurled all the homophobic, racist, xenophobic epithets they wanted at each other on the radio if it weren't for the darned P.C. police.

Really? Society doesn't function when people make jokes that apparently some but the target finds distasteful? I say it that way because no one actually knows what the Sedins think, we just like projecting, just like we do with what was actually said in the audio. We're almost there though. So far, a joke aimed at two grown up men on a different team, inferring rivals, has outraged women, children, gays, astronauts, and dairy cows. I added the others myself with insight from tumblr

I'm telling you, as a twin myself, and having talked to other twins, that insult (even if it's only an inuendo, it is full of meaning) is a basic one when you go to high school. Really pathetic that guys in their twenties still use that.

Players like Bolland, Seguin, and Marchand may be cocky, brash and pests, but then again they are millionaire athletes in their prime who have played major roles on the their teams winning the Cup, and I bet they are more respected than the Sedins as teammates.

You shouldn't mistaken the Sedins' lack of personality for being classy or humble.

Why did you quote me if you weren't going to reply to anything I said? You're tilting at windmills here. Keep fighting the good fight I guess, don't let me get in your way.
