And they still cant sell out. Halifax would sell out at tickets that price.

I know you cant compare the rinks but.

How big is the rink? What else is there to do in Halifax? lol

Give us some meaningful games, and if not dont try and make us shell out loads of dough for an inferior product in round robin games that everyone knows Canada is gonna coast through when we Montrealers can go and watch a solid NHL team for the same prices or less.

I guess Halifax would give up their life savings for these events. I mean ain't much else to do.

Nothing to do but watch/play hockey which is why it would sell out.

BTW its very stupid that they scheduled Canada games at the same time that the Habs are playing right at the exact time... Pretty stupid whoever made the schedul.

The CFL is been around for about 60 years. Some of the clubs have been around 100 years.

TSN has only been around 25 years. TSN took the CFL into the TV age but no league would be around this long if it offered a sub par entertainment value and wasn't managed pragmatically through all the ups and downs the CFL has gone through. CFL teams have managed to survive while we seen the likes of the WHA, numerous soccer leagues, Expos & Grizzlies fall by the wayside.

Just because it survived doesn't mean it's actually good. The CFL looks and feels cheap. The stadiums, production, rules, trophy, field, announcers, and players are the dollar store version of pro football.

Props to Toronto.

They seem to have carried the day for this tournament.

Montreal for not paying ridiculous ticket prices to watch ''kids'' play Hockey.

It'll remain the same for 2017 if the idiots at Hockey Canada think we want to pay NHL prices to watch 17-19 year old's play Hockey.

The World championships in Europe are cheaper every year that says a lot. There's no way a preliminary game in the lower bowl should be more then 50-60$, $150-200 for Canada games? Excuse me, that's a joke ,and that's why nearly all the seats were filled by the freebies given out.

Montreal's a different market then the rest of Canada, at least market this tournament properly.

Nah. I agree the tickets are evidently over priced.

Doesn't explain the disinterest fron those actually in the building in Montreal. Toronto fans looked far more engaged.

Does booing Eichel everytime he touches the puck not count?
Does giving the German goaltender Sharipov a 3 minute standing ovation after a 50 odd save performance a 6-0 losing effort not count?
Does the legion of Russian fans asking Canadian fans to join in the chanting of ''Shaybu, Shaybu'' not count?

When everyone is scattered around it might not be evident on television. But the atmosphere was very youthful and magical.

Though I'll admit, I have no clue why it's Let's go Canada instead of ''Go Canada Go'' which is much more convenient.

Montreal fans boo the sun when it comes up every morning, so no it does not count...it is just the natural order of things.

Solid effort by the Toronto fans tonight. No excuses, I like that. Just attend, cheer on AND support our boys on their way to victory unlike some of those other fans in that "smaller" city. :D

Keep on looking for endless strings of excuses to justify some pretty shabby fan support!

No excuses here to give you, totally don't care about your opinion of our fan support of a junior hockey tournament.

You are delusional if you think Halifax sells out at the prices charged for Montreal.

Fair enough, it doesn't come across the same in the two buildings on TV.

I don't give anyone credit for booing a kid at these games though. Not sure why anyone would do that.

It's the kind of event where you would like to bring an entire pee-wee team. You obviously can't unless you made a lot of money selling crack to your mayor :sarcasm:

Thats fine.

But the fact that The world Juniors gets higher TV ratings than the Leafs (and blows out Habs ratings) should indicate that the tournament does matter.

Also, the hockey is more exiciting. Its my opinion, but I fail to see how the NHL is better to watch.

Quality-wise I'd assume. There are players in the Finnish squad who eventually end up playing in the Swedish second division.

Quality of hockey is certainly better. Thats not in dispute at all.

But better quality doesnt always equal more exciting. Ill give a simple example. In MMA, some of the best fighters are disliked or get hate for boring styles. Canadian star GSP beat everyone he ever fought, and by the end of his career he began to get criticism for just taking people down and not brawling with them. A lot of brawler's in the UFC are fan favourites, but few ever win titles.

Here is my reason for loving World Junior hockey:
- these are really skilled teenagers. Guys like Domi, McDavid etc all have NHL futures, and some guys already have played in the NHL. There are other guys like Brayden Point who will struggle to make the NHL on a full-time basis, but still have a lot of skill

- teenagers often lack the composure and mental maturity of NHLers. See last 5 minutes of Canada-US, where a "routine" Canada win all of a sudden turned into a potential collapse. these things happen a lot more in the WJC than in the NHL. I personally like it because you never know what can happen

- the players are representing their country. There is something special about wearing your country's jersey. Pride is on the line -- see the Canada - US game where both teams were taking runs at each other for no real reason, but to upstage the other

Again, my opinion is that WJC hockey is the most fun to watch -- good mix of skill, patriotism, and emotion

Thankfully Toronto brought it.

They had it in full force yesterday.

The Finn Sweden game had a ton of folks in the arena...no one complaining about, well, anything.

Then Canada played...even though the Leafs were also on TV.

Arena was on fire.

Canada played Denmark.

Sold out.

Who cares about Montreal really.

Toronto saved the day.

Montreal can go back to complaining. The rest of Canada isn't listening (what else is new).

Toronto sold out the ACC because they're use to get screwed since 67:D
