ATD2025 Draft Thread Part II

Game reports are such valuable primary research material, especially if you compile a lot of them!

Secondary reports years later are what a lot of early era greats are known for, and the one i'd read and cited is thus incorrect.

The Internet develops - even wiki NOW lists him at left wing. Old guy me did my digging on him back in 2006-2010.

This looks really interesting.

Where are you guys buying your hockey books? I can't find this in Canada.

Morey is a fellow SIHR member, so I knew about the book months before it was released officially. I can't recall if I bought it from him directly or if it was through amazon.ca but I'm pretty sure I was among the very first to get a copy. I don't believe it was available for sale in Canada for too long - I think I recall it being a fairly limited run and I seem to remember him mentioning he might have to throw away his remaining unsold stock due to storage issues. Not sure if he went through with..I sure hope not.

I do see some copies listed on the American amazon marketplace for like $15 USD but not all sellers ship to Canada. I can keep an eye out for you and message some contacts to see if I can find a copy for you.

As for myself and new books, I tend to use amazon and Chapters/Indigo. For used books I use every online resource available - abebooks, thriftbooks, amazon marketplace, ebay, betterworldbooks etc.. Plus I have many contacts and we try to help each other out with our want lists.

If anyone here is ever looking for a particular book, let me know. I can't promise anything but I do my best to try to find a copy. Hockey book hunting is practically my other full time job - I've bought over 2,100 of them throughout the years.

I'm always on the lookout for empire of ice for $100ish.

It's absolutely bonkers to see this listed at $300+ now. Good 'ol automated internet pricing. Used booksellers will run the isbn through a database and will see the lowest is listed at $299.99 so they'll put theirs up for $289.99 as a "bargain." It's ridiculous. Supply and demand I guess..

Pretty sure I paid $25 for mine a decade ago. If I'd have known what they go for now I'd have bought 10 copies lol. I'll keep my eyes peeled for you, but I have a friend who's also on the hunt for it and has me looking for him as well.

Thanks! If they ask me what I enjoy doing in my free time, I'll bore them with tales of hockey history and the ATD. :naughty:

Link them to your Pete Green research lol they'll respect the initiative and effort.

And if all else fails, hit them with the Patrick Kane "Don't you know who I am?" "I'm an HF Boards All-Time drafter, damnit."
