I just don’t think it’s this teams year. Without goaltending they have no chance in the playoffs. But there are several things wrong with this team. Without some significant retooling I think our window is over. Unfortunately I don’t have much faith in current management making the necessary changes.
Nothing should be retooled till the team plays behind an actual nhl starting goaltender.

And really - it's day in and day out and has been for years of Skinner letting in weak goals over and over again and the team having to fix it for him.

All the while Skinner's getting his knob slobbered by the media because nothing can be his fault.

Like... It must be infuriating.
It must be infuriating to play for a team who prioritizes hiring friends over winning hockey games. Who continually fails year after year despite the best efforts of superstar players. Who only got to where they are because they f***ed up so badly that they won a once in a generation lottery, and even that isn't enough to erase their utter ineptitude.

The Oilers are run terribly. It goes far deeper than who's in net.

The goaltending was bad even when this team was playing well, they just played airtight D to keep the floodgates from opening on this tandem...aside from a couple rare games where they looked like they might actually belong in this league (like the last one). Hence why both goalies have spent the entirety of the season in the bottom quarter of the league in GSAx.
I don't get why you think I'm defending our goaltending- I'm not. I'm just refuting the narrative that the Oilers are playing well outside of their goalies. The whole team looks like shit right now.

Well technically this is a game.

Imagine being there and paying to see this and realizing the Oilers have heavily mortgaged their future for this right here right now club.

Its what gets me is how many brutal errors it took by this org to get to this point with little in futures.

Savoie the next great hope at Center in first period gets knocked right on his back on Center ice faceoff and a GA secs later. Welcome to the NHL kid.

I guess its special though we have to have all of Derek Ryan, Brown, Perry, Janmark, Kane, etc etc on retirement contracts. My life wouldn't have been complete without seeing these guys...;)

Watching lazy Nurse let a guy get away and score a goal sums up this game. They don’t want to pay the price. And management is content with this goaltending?? We may be hooped.

I understand that poor goaltending can be deflating, but if our leadership can't keep the team focused and tight through the softies, then that's a bigger problem. The Ducks look like 10x the team we are, that's f***ed.

"Skinner heroically stepped into the game in relief of the beleaguered Pickard and only allowed a single goal on seven of the most lethal, highest-danger looks we've seen since the 80s. Bouchard stepped aside for every single one of them, even going so far as to push Skinner out of the net when he could."

Well, gentlemen--there are about 48 hours left to make a move.

That said-- all is not lost, there is still a lot of talent on the team. I'm not sure why the guys are putting in such little effort. Is it a maturity problem--don't know to be honest.
