That'd just amount to adjusted goals per game, or per game VsX which, for those who put a big value on durability, is pretty well considered I think.
So it really comes down to whether you think we should value early bloomers more than late bloomers.

Then you are no longer placing value on the best players, but on the best careers. If that was all that mattered, most of the players in the Hall of Fame would have to be removed. Especially the early year players who hardly played any games. And there is no adjustment for players based on salary either. To me that is strange. We expect them to play hard for pennies and then take a job in the offseason compared to those that were later able to make a living at it? Morenz certainly let up after they won those two Cups, he was partying and getting out of shape, but also had injuries. But we still give him his props. The rankings are relative, they are not just based on longevity, there are many other factors.

At this point I don't even care about who was the best player, I care about who was the most inspiring legend and/or respectable ambassador for society. I am getting old and wiser. Almost like an old mage on top of a mountain.

I hear ya there. I remember Killion was very adamant in that perspective - much more interested in the what and how of the old legends than the "how much".
I think the other important piece of that is to not go barging into "greatest ever" discussions for the purpose of plugging your ears and yelling that the people there are thinking about hockey history the wrong way. Nobody needs that - and I'm not saying you do that, but I AM saying there are a few users here who DO behave that way, haha.

I just saw this on YouTube from the channel M. Laser History. I immediately thought of you guys and thought I'd share it with you. From the way he talks at the end, it sounds as though this is going to be a video series. Hope you all enjoy!

If I’m picking a player for a tournament, not sure I could pick Chelios over Pronger. Maybe in today’s faster game. Pronger dragged teams to the finals- much like McDavid just did without a healthy Draisitl.

Looks about right. For what it's worth, based on VsX, Crosby was 10th as of the end of the 2023-24 season. He probably just surpassed Bourque for 9th.

VsX and the table above have the same top five, in the same order. (The biggest difference is VsX has Howe much closer to Gretzky). VsX also ranks Mikita and Delvecchio higher (6th and 7th instead of 14th and 15th).

Seems a bit high, but at least he ain't on Mount Rushmore.

Bonds and Chamberlain ain't on Mount Rushmore, ... Lawrence Taylor certainly is!!

Since the next edition of the ATD is right around the corner, I wanted to gauge how people would feel about allowing individual GMs to manage 2 teams again; last time it was voted on was early 2022

Work grinds almost to a complete halt for myself in Q1/early Q2 (fortunately the payroll does not! :naughty:) so I have the availability and certainly the interest in constructing multiple rosters

Oof, been a long time since I posted here.

I'm surprised the ATD is still around. The last time I checked (couple years back), it seemed like there was a struggle to generate enough interest in it and you guys evolved to some different kinds of drafts.. but that was also a very brief glance. I might just be making stuff up.

Mostly came here to see how feelings have evolved on current generation players. McDavid at 16th! There wasn't as much controversy about that as I thought there would be, though I'm not surprised about VI leading the anti-McDavid train. His post about him breaking his leg has aged very, very poorly.. lol. Only a few months later, drags his team to game 7 of the Cup Final and a Conn Smythe.

I'm also very, very sad that RB's selection of Marty Walsh didn't generate 17 pages of fan fare. :( Boo!!!

Anyway, good to see the ATD is still around and kicking! Is there going to be an ATD 2025? I don't have the time that I used to have but it might be fun to pick it up again with a co-GM!

An injured McDavid just dragged the Oil to G7 without a healthy Drai and not much else against a very tough opponent and goaltender. How many players have done that? Along with his other bling and numbers... does that get him to the 10-spot now? 8 elite seasons and he's doing it again this year, of course.

I mean the Hawks cheated their way to a Cup in 1961, but nobody talks about that. Without that Hull and Mikita's resume gets thinner. :)

So, I just looked and the signup thread for last year was actually started on New Year's Eve, with signups going through the month of January. Any reason we shouldn't go ahead and have signups and discuss rules for this year?
