Based on the amount of standings watching last couple months it’s wild to me that this game is virtually now meaningless to the Sens playoff chances. Relieved they took care of their own business.
This game is not "meaningless" because if the Senators lose all 6 of their remaining games, Columbus could pass us and get a wild card birth.
Winning this game would give us 90 points with Columbus having 6 games remaining at 77 points, needing 13 to tie us and 14 to beat us. Thus Columbus could still tie us. Thus Winning is "meaningful"!

Technically true. I’m trying to be optimistic and ensure people aren’t reaching for the panic button because today’s result doesn’t matter as much as one would have thought a few days ago.

Agreed and almost every game is meaningful despite impact on standings. Especially with our group who seemed to have way more jam before the all star break. Need to steadily improve to get to the level of Leafs or Florida teams and make that series exciting. We saw it for stretches that they can raise their compete level, should avoid coming into the playoffs playing on our heels which has been the case lately.
Last game Sens played well vs CBJ and expecting a similar effort and hopefully result this game!
