Oops - thanks for the heads up (also misspelled it in my post)

Kenora instead selects:
VLADIMIR VIKULOV -- Centre

Vikulov is strictly a RW, isn't he?

He's the guy I was thinking of when I drafted Hyland - Vikulov might be as good or better, but I couldn't have another super soft player on that line.

Not at all.

He took the opening faceoff of the 1972 Summit Series. He played center in the Soviet league and on the Olympic Team.

Now, ATD drafters have always exploited his c/rw status to put him on wing. But kuddos to anyone who plays him at his natural position.

At one point, I actually knew this....

I was always under the impression vikulov was a rw. Are you sure he played C primarily VI?

im reading theos bio and he was the rw with kharlamov at lw and maltsev at C in the summit series.

I'll finish the Swamp Devils' third line with a great defensive forward who upped his offensive game in the playoffs:

Mush Marsh, RW

Top 20 finishes:
Points: 11th
Goals: 8th
Assists: 7th, 9th, 13th
PIMs: 12th, 15th, 15th

Top 6 points finishes among teammates: 2nd, 2nd, 3rd, 3rd, 3rd, 4th, 5th, 5th, 5th, 6th, 6th, 6th
  • 1934 Stanley Cup champion (Chicago)
  • 1938 Stanley Cup champion (Chicago)
  • Tied for 3rd in a 1934 writers poll for "fastest skater" behind Howie Morenz and Busher Jackson
  • Awarded a "Retroactive Selke" by Ultimate Hockey for 1939
  • One of the first players to make the jump directly from junior to the NHL
  • 17 year career, all with the Chicago Blackhawks
Playoffs:
  • Since the Black Hawks were not an overly successful team during most of those 17 years, March only played in a total of 25 playoff games, but he made the most of those 25 games by scoring 7 goals, 12 assists for 19 points.
  • He became the first recorded player in hockey history to win the Stanley Cup for his team on an overtime goal.
When the Blackhawks created a 75th anniversary team in 2001, they selected 3 RWs: Tony Amonte, Steve Larmer, and Mush Marsh

Vikulov took the opening face off of the 1972 and 1974 Summit Series.

Is he an Ed Litzenberger? A guy whom the coach always wanted taking the draw even though he was on wing, is RW/C?

He also centered a line with Kapustin in 1974.

But, yeah, he was RW on Firsov's line, on Maltsev's line, and a couple of others.

RW/C perhaps best describes his career on the national team.

Vikulov played center? Completely new to me.

The opening faceoffs in 1972 and 1974 were taken by Petrov. In 1974 Vikulov didn't even play in the first leg of the series.
