ATD 2017 Draft Thread II

In my opinion St. Louis is better than Iginla, though Iginla brings some physicality which is very useful in this setting. On the other hand, St. Louis is a strong playmaker for a winger.

Just a superb, very determined hockey player.St. Louis definitely has some of the fire Rocket Richard had in his eyes. They even look alike a bit.

Tampa Bay were all class to retire his number, which was a well deserved honor, despite how things ended with the current management.

I think Iginla is more valuable in this draft though.

Not necessarily if you're looking for a playmaking winger, which is more rare than a goalscorer.Obviously Iginla is not just a goalscorer as he is physical and a great leader too. They're both very close.

I'd say goal scoring centers who aren't puck dominant are a fair rarer commodity, but agree Iginla just seemed to be a better fit for myself and several other teams due to my earlier point.

There is one particular player left who stands out like a super nova in a sea of blackness.

He isn't a defenseman though.

I think I know who youre talking about. If you pick him youll have one hell of a top six, perhaps the best, but your D is gonna look terrible compared to everyone else.

Completing your top 6 before selecting a D or G

Think of the value!

All it means is my first pair will be the worst in the ATD. That doesn't preclude my bottom-4 being the best in the ATD. :naughty:

Well all paths lead to interesting places but I'm going to go with the one that lays the most solid foundation.

My captain, Eddie Gerard, D/LW.

There are bits and pieces of information on Gerard all over the damn place.. I'm going to consolidate all of it into a nice bio, and maybe find some new stuff if I can. :)

Really wasn't sure which path to take with Gerard/BlackJack. Just loved Stewart's physicality. I've traded for Eddie Gerard before and he's a really good player here.

It's close between them.

Gerard ticked a number of boxes for me. Obvious captain material, best defenseman of a dynasty, can play either side of the defense..

I'll take Serge Savard, D.

I'll fill in more info later.

Great pick, I strongly considered him with my last pick, along with Cy Denneny, Norm Ullman and all those guys of course but Savard was the only guy I had a chance to draft.

Any chance you can update your roster page btw? It's more fun to follow the draft that way.

I thought about going through and updating everyone's roster...not making lines or anything, just a list of who's been drafted. I can't imagine anyone would have a problem with this as this is public information anyway.

While I admit the real reason I didn't update my rosters is laziness, I did have a secondary reason.

We are at the point in the draft where the best way to gauge which players other GMs will pick is what their positional needs are. There is an advantage to not updating your roster as other GMs will be in the dark unless they do the work of looking over your selections.

I admit, it's not great sportsmanship to not update your roster but like I said, I'm lazy.

Well, I could just put together your lineup in a text document based on what you have drafted and get a general idea of where you might go next if that is what you mean.

In worst case scenario, just having a list of the players are a lot nicer to the eyes than scrolling through the draft list.

SERGE! ****

Done 3 or 4 of these drafts and I've always wanted him, never quite got him. Below average 1D but he'd be a mother****er as a #2. Nice pickup.
