At this rate, we're going to miss the playoffs...

Getting at least 12 points out of this coming home stand, would probably cement a playoff spot.

The Kings would have to go on an epic meltdown losing streak, to piss away that kind of home stand performance.

10 to 12 points should be the goal this next seven games.

Yes, I would be very happy with 10 points on the upcoming home stand.

It's amusing to read these threads when the Kings are playing their best hockey of the year right now. They are actually playing better than they did in the 6 game win streak or whatever it was to start the year. I'm more confident now that we are back to being a dominant possession team then when we were winning a lot while being outshot

It's amusing to even discuss playoff standings in December.

Agree. It's a waste of time. ANA won't continue to luck out on one-goal games as the season progresses and we can't suck as bad as we have on the road. We should concentrate on trying to catch them.

The irony is that the Kings record has suffered once they started returning to their puck possession roots. They've been killing it in advanced stats. Except for PDO...which has been the difference between wins and losses lately. Bad bounces and deflections. That being said, if they can clean up their occasional brain farts, they should start winning at a good clip going forward.

Ducks have 2 more ROW than the Kings. If the Kings play even with them and beat them head to head Kings will pass them.
2 for 21 in the shoot out is the reason the Kings are not top of the league. The shoot out, really.

I'm gonna throw out my predicted Pacific Standings now for the end of the season.

1. Ducks
2. Nucks
3. Flames
4. Kings
5. SJ (ha ha *****es. GM will then be fired in early June. )
6. Az (the arena will melt due to the heat in July)
7. Edmonton (The fans will torch the arena if Mac isn't gone).

Throw out yours. There's a lot of doom and gloom right now so I'd love to see where we all land. It would be a good measuring stick.

It is going to be that kind of season... One day, we have the feeling the Kings are going to be out of the playoff picture, the next (like yesterday's comeback against Vancouver) we are confident the Cup is ours! Roller coaster year...

Lombardi has been brillant in his trades the 2 years we won the Cup. Carter in 2012 and Gaborik in 2014. I'm afraid he will have to pull one out again this year. What does Columbus has set for us? :)

Also, the final outcome in the "Voynov case" will also contribute to define this team's run to the Cup. He is badly missed and if he is not back it is on D that DL will have to pull something close to the trade deadline...

just my two cents...

No merit. Do you really believes the Canucks and Flames will finish ahead of the Kings? The Flames don't have lasting power and we just started the Canucks on their Spring slide. The Kings have a history of playing much better in the Spring than they do in the Fall and Winter and I fully expect them to compete with San Jose for the second spot...and who knows? As I said above, ANA can't continue to win the way they are winning, and the Kings cannot possibly play as badly on the road as they have been. It's early yet. The division title is still attainable.

One win last night and they're playing the best hockey of the season? No. They could be playing a whole lot better. We just came off loses from EDM and Calgary, twice. I'm starting to think these guys want to play games from behind to give them some desperation to win...

I don't know. They usually surprise us. I wouldn't be shocked if they played better. Remember when Quick went down?

Kings and Sharks battle to the wire for home ice. Listening to Vancouver radio last night, Canuck fans and radio commentators were saying that no team wants a piece of the Kings in the 1st round.

Vancouver fans and media continue to measure themselves against the California teams, and they were happy to get the 3 points in 3 games recently, but felt they were dominated territorially by all 3 teams. Their fans feel that Vancouver has no answer for the Kings and their style, but they might get lucky against Anaheim or San Jose in a 7-game series.

I think the Kings are playing better, but still sloppy of late. I would like to see Doughty's minutes get cut a little so he doesn't make as many mistakes when he is tired. I won't be shocked if Schultz stays the remainder of the season if the Kings don't make a trade to acquire a veteran defenseman.

McNabb and McBain are starting to round into solid 5-6 defensemen, and I like to see them alternating in the lineup.

1. Ducks (runs away with division)
2. Kings (finds game at end of season)
3. Canucks (loses home ice by 3 points)
4. Sharks (doesn't make wild card,2 central teams)
5. Flames (hit wall and end horrible)
6. Coyotes (trades away veterans)
7. Oilers (barely gets 20 wins)

Ducks will fail in the playoffs; Kings find their groove; canucks get rolled in the playoffs; sharks fire and trade everyone; flames youth can't hang on; coyotes go for #1 overall in 2016 for hometown boy; oilers get McDavid (NHL is super angry) :sarcasm:

If only there was a way to dispel this mythical beast known as "variance"

Bold Prediction based on everything I see, advanced stats, and a personal side project I've been working on:

1. Kings
2. Ducks
3. Sharks
4. Canucks
5. Flames
6. Oilers
7. Coyotes

Short version: our division is surprisingly weak this year, and while the Ducks have been defying normality by winning every one-goal game, we've been defying it by losing despite domination across all metrics lately. We've had crap goaltending numbers and been playing against stellar goaltending numbers. When everything normalizes a bit more, and after we get our d-men straightened out via trade or otherwise, we're going to win the division by a very narrow margin (as the ducks will sort their **** out also). Sharks are better than they're given credit for. Canucks will finish just short and miss the playoffs as the two wild cards will be from the Central. Flames are playing with smoke and mirrors. Oilers are actually going to pull themselves together and win some games while the Coyotes are going to be smart and offload vets.

Feel free to make fun of me for this later. I have a pet project that I'm interested to see how far off it leads me ;)

If the season is long enough for everything to regress to the mean. I would say your right. But even though over the course of a season it should happen it doesn't always. Big example from last year were the Avs.
But I know the Ducks having played in 25 1 goal games or 62.5% of their total games and having gotten 88% of the points in those games 19-0-6. That regression should be a cliff. ;)

I was surprised to hear during the broadcast how good the Canucks' record is against the Pacific Division so far this season. Maybe the Kings got that trending in the right direction again on January 1.

The Ducks are finally healthy, so there will be fewer one goal victories. Look for them to go on another 7+ winning streak.

Right.

I keep forgetting that the Ducks are built for the regular season. Thanks for reminding me.

Ducks will win the division in a landslide. They'll crack 110 points.
