Don't rush the kid amidst the excitement. He's already an excellent prospect, and if he's truly ready to start the season with the Wings, that's impressive, but if he needs a few months in the minors first, so much the better for chasing another top pick.
Can't play in the minors either Wings or back to junior unless he plays overseas

That's what I meant (juniors). I hope he stays down until he's absolutely ready...and until Coreau returns to lead Detroit to another lofty draft pick. :D

Yeah, there were some great questions I would have loved to hear in that Tyler Wright interview.

I was dying to hear their early thoughts on the 2019 draft, especially during the early discussion about how they analyze future draft classes. Kind of like how he mentioned after the 2017 draft that they would focus on skill this year. I'm really interested in hearing that strategy for next year.

Also did anyone else get the vibe that Wright kind of understands that the 2017 draft was a bit of a dud? Looking past Rasmussen and Lindstrom, its really, really ugly and I think he realizes that. His shpeal at the end about how size isn't a very big factor was super contradictory to how he spoke this time last year. Hopefully he learned his lesson.
I was also hoping to hear something about next year’s draft. And yeah, definitely got that vibe too. He only mentioned Ras & Lindström as guys who had good seasons, skipped the other 9 guys most of who stalled or even regressed this year.

I think hell get 9 games for sure, after that its dicey. Rasmussen will be in the line up so do they want 2 rookie wingers? Play one with Larkin and one with Zetterberg and that would be alright. The wings are going to suck though so he might be better off doing one more year in junior then straight into the NHL after the wings have another high draft pick in 2019.

I think he could have a Marner like D+1 season, absolutely dominate junior (probably the best player in the CHL), go on a deep run with Halifax and still get more used to NA ice and style of play a bit. He didnt light up junior to the point that he HAS to be in the NHL for sure next year

My issue with sending him back to juniors is he doesn’t really have any room for improvement. He is 6’1 200 lbs. he is not going to be packing on weight. He is not much of an athlete and his skating is technically sound. He won’t see gains skating wise. He is never going to be a center, so we’re not sending him to develop at the position. He needs to learn how to beat NHl defenses, and there is only one way to do that.

With so many skilled youngsters, there is no point in beeing overly patient with inconsistency. A highlight reel goal here and there is worth little compared to a guy who can produce in a steady reliable way. Take a game off in the NHL, take next game in the AHL.

There is only 1 advantage that I see and that's Halifax is hosting the memorial cup.

If he doesn't make the Wings I hope they sign him and loan him a European pro league(not the KHL)

With Halifax hosting the Memorial Cup if he doesn't make the team he is going back there. It is a big year for Halifax. That event matters to NHL people.

I think he will make the Wings. My guess is AA is about to be moved out. Interesting that Zadina has AA's agent which was an oh crap moment for me. Not really a fan of that guy, one of the worst in the industry in my opinion.

He can't go to the AHL.

CHL, NHL, European league.

Him being in the NHL isn't about highlight reels.

Anybody see a little datsyuk in this guy, just his edges and shiftiness remind me of him
110 percent. I see it in his skating and his smarts. The way he approaches the corner cautiously instead of racing in full speed.

I’ve been saying for a while he is very similar to pav and that’s part of the reason Kenny was so happy to make this pick!

I have watched him play quite a bit and we are in for a real treat. Thank you Arizona!

His skating is similar to Datsyuk. His hands aren't as good (they're still great) and he isn't the same type of elite two-way force... But he could have a similar offensive impact. He relies more on his shot than Datsyuk ever did. He can find guys with great passes, but he doesn't have that elite elite vision which made Datsyuk special. His shot can make up for that though.

Yes but imagine if Daysyuk shot more and had Zadina type shot, Zadina has potential and is Datsyuk like.

^Eww... Cleary's old number...

Let's say he makes the team. I kind of prefer he play with Z. These days, depending on the opponent, he wouldn't be up against the toughest matchups.

If he's good enough to play in the NHL, he starts in the NHL.

Do not ****ing keep him down for a couple months to get a better draft pick.

I was in favor of keeping Larkin down a little bit so he could learn to be a center instead of starting the season as a winger in his first year, but there is no reason to keep Zadina away from the NHL unless he proves in preseason he's not ready.

I think he's just as pro ready as Svechnikov (Carolina) and in fact I think he's gonna turn out to be the better player. We didn't hit a home run we hit a grand slam with this kid!
