The guy that got his contract terminated by the Caps after his texts trashing his teammates and saying nasty things about women got leaked? No thanks. Also he signed in the KHL already.

Yeah even if he was one of the best players in the league, I want him nowhere near the team.

I’m not defending his actions but Leipsic’s behavior is not exactly uncommon behind closed doors with young athletes.

Make no mistake, similar texts are around in the Wings locker room, as well as 30 others. Maybe not by the majority of players, guys like Larkin and Rasmussen seem the type to turn down one night stands cause they have practice in the morning, but every team likely has a couple of varying degrees of talent level. You can’t look at guys like Seguin and earnestly tell me he isn’t a “bro”

I am not dumping any of these players as humans, I’ve done worse things than most of them, but the mantra of Wings players always being class acts is a myth. Some of the best Wings teams of all times had their fair share of questionable characters and only changed in the mid 2000s. The 2008 team won because they were supremely talented, them primarily being stand up guys was just a coincidence.

I get it and it sucks for Leipsic for getting caught. But doesn’t mean that behavior should be rewarded with another NHL contract. Wouldn’t be a terrible thing if guys (including those in Detroit locker room) changed they way they think and act because the consequences are huge. Not to mention who wants a guy in the locker room that’s going to trash teammates for doing charity work - what a loser.

I think people just don’t get dark humor. I’ve said things that would make leipsic blush and all of it was tongue in cheek. Screwing around with your friends and seeing who can say the most obnoxious shit doesn’t make you a bad person.
