At 11th Overall Islanders take Oliver Wahlstrom

f*** this site. Haven’t been able to get through to share the excitement. What a f***ing haul for us.

My favorite player in the draft was Oliver Wahlstrom and I had him ranked #3 being Svechnikov.

Dobson I had #5 kid is a big smooth skating workhorse.

Such an amazing first round. Never did I think one of these guys would fall do us let alone both. Have to thank the Yotes and Rags.

I’m f***ing pumped.

Yeah, that was bad. I was frustrated not being able to get on, too.

I never thought we'd have a snowball''s chance in hell to get Dobson. To get these two guys, and I'll beat the dead horse, this is very much like getting Barzal and Beauvillier three years ago. What a haul!
 
I absolutely agree that @SI90 needs major dental surgery every draft year if it gets us a haul like Dobson/Wahlstrom.

I never imagined we'd be able to add a potential #1D and potential #1RW with Laine-esque scoring ability. IMO Wahlstrom has a ridiculous ceiling. I remember a month or so ago, Arizona Coyotes fans insistent that if the first four picks went Dahlin-Svech-Zadina-Tkachuk, they'd take Wahlstrom without a second thought because of what a legitimate offensive talent he looks to turn into. The mocks had them taking Wahlstrom and us taking Hayton, more than happy to have it flipped around.

I’m probably getting way ahead of myself here, but we’re in a position to have an incredible forward group within the next two or three years, and a fairly affordable one at that.

Lee-JT-Wahlstrom
Bellows-Barzal-Eberle
Beauvillier-Bailey-Ho Sang
 
His one timer is supposedly elite, can you imagine how many goals Barzy is gonna set up for this kid and what this will do for our PP (along with Dobson)
 
Could Barzal and Wahlstrom be the latter day Hull and Oates? (all players are right handed shots, so I can't go Trottier and Bossy).
