LeBrun: Asking price for M.A.F is 1st Rounder or 1st Round level prospect + possible mid-level pick

The past and or historical cost doesn't matter. What matters is the price teams will pay in a bidding war and you have contenders like Vegas, Colorado, Toronto and Washington who all appear DESPERATE.

Colorado just re-signed their backup and traded a significant amount for Kuemper.
They will give that tandem at least 1 run in the playoffs.

They may be desperate for a more experienced #3, but not enough to trade a 1st.

You're LOLing at a phantom. Post qualifies "if" and each side providing a general base. There's no offer there, just a general model that should be there if Toronto intended to mortgage part of their future. If they did, there should be something other than MAF's words of wisdom to Jack Campbell to hold on to in the event Chicago's looking for a 1st and a prospect or two of note.
I wasn't LOL'ing you....the offer you presented. Because that pretty much is what would happen from CHI side per what has been released publicly about that player. If there is something for the future (along the lines of that player) that Toronto wants there will be no favors done. Because the Hawks don't have to.

That'd be some savvy management by the Blackhawks, bringing in the reigning Vezina winner essentially for free then flipping him for a 1st+ on a down year.
Cap space:popcorn:. I remember Leafs gave up a 1st for some cap space too. I hear he only wants to go to a REAL cup contender, but COL is the only one without a good goalie.

LeBrun already said that Toronto and Washington are on MAF no trade list, He wont waive to go to either team. They're not on his short list.

Why even speculate on a 1st at this point if that's the case. They'll wind up with a lowball offer of a 2nd plus a pick to another team for additional retention.

He'll probably waive to go to Toronto or Washington in the end, though.

As far as connecting the Leafs to this, Mrazek doesn't necessarily have to be included in the trade. If waived and sent to the AHL, Mrazek's contract becomes only 2.6M against the cap. If Muzzin remains on LTI, that can be manageable until the end of the year

Hawks would have no issue taking back mrazek.

You have to have a certain level of self respect in life. If I conclude a handshake deal with you, and at the end of it you hand me a used napkin and ask me to toss it in the trashcan on the way out, I have two choices.

1) Hang my head in shame and ask myself why I allow people to continually step all over me.

2) Say, er hangon @Mrfenn92, that bit of rudeness just cost you a 3rd round pick. Either that, or keep your shitty goalie and enjoy another first round exit.

Edmonton.... Do it! Could be the oldest goalie tandem in history? Maybe bring in Craig Anderson as insurance? Is Chara available too?

Was thinking this.... plus they're currently getting .922 / 2.47 goaltending from Kuemper.

Their 3rd and 4th goalies have been absolutely terrible, so they will probably be in the market for a 3rd goalie much like the Leafs acquired Rittich last year... but they have neither the cap space nor need for a guy like Fleury.

I think Colorado might be a dark horse contender for him in the off season if he doesn't retire though.

I'm not so sure about that.

He's got a reasonably large, young family. He doesn't have anything left to prove. He's a Penguin at heart -- the concept of going to the team's biggest rival is likely not overly appealing. Washington also has a couple of challenges in acquiring him. First, he'd require double-retention (not impossible, but some team is going to need to be compensated for doing so), and that even with double-retention, the Caps do not seem to have a clear path to carrying 3 goalies if Hagelin is coming back.

That latter challenge would likely mean they have to give up on Ilya Samsnov. Maybe that's a situation where they've now soured on him and will look to build around Vanecek + somebody else; in which case you of course have the ideal fit as I'm sure the Hawks would love to get Samsonov.... but I'm not so sure Washington is prepared to do that.

As for Toronto, Fleury loved the obscurity of being in Vegas. Doesn't get much more opposite than in Toronto.

Reading Lebrun today he said the Leafs are working on convincing him to move there. But then they have to come to a deal with the Hawks as well so lots of things in motion.

MAF, as loveable as he is, is a bit of a diva. You can ask him if he wants any fries, and he'll say no. But you know darn well he's taking yours when you get yourself some.

He'll waive to whatever team wants him the most, you'll see.
