This crazy love affair people have with Askarov is one of the most ridiculous things I've seen. He was the 17th best goalie in the AHL and people are acting like he's future Vasilevskiy.
By what metric was he 17th best? Did you see the December/January he had? This crazy love affair people have with Askarov is one of the most ridiculous things I've seen. He was the 17th best goalie in the AHL and people are acting like he's future Vasilevskiy.
The offseason has barely started, let's see what happens before we start running around saying the sky is falling.Ill never understand why Nashville would double down on this core that has absolute garbage center depth and rhd depth.
Too bad we resigned Calvin Pickard….
They don't track advanced goalie stats in the AHL. He was 17th in save percentage among goalies with 25 games or more. He had good months and horrible months. One month doesn't really matter.By what metric was he 17th best? Did you see the December/January he had?
Read the article unlike everyone else so you can know Askarov isn’t actually available or being shopped. What is the ask from Nash?
Darnell Nurse & Jacqueline CampbellWhat could they have possibly offered for Askarov?
Congratulations you have also added nothing to this conversation. Thanks for coming out bud ... hahaCongratulations, you added nothing to this conversation. Thanks for coming out bud.
He’s not even an NHLer yet. No team is just going to hand him starter’s duties in the next couple of years. And if they did, it would probably be some piss poor team that constantly ruins young players by providing no insulation or development runway. What if the player wants to move given that he’s less likely to become a starter in the foreseeable future

For all we know, the plan could be to significantly lighten Saros’s huge workload - seeing as they just invested so heavily in him and his high number of starts no doubt contributed to fatigue and poor results this past year.
Askarov could be in line for a very good amount of starts these next few years as he attempts to develop into the next Russian star in net. If after 2-3 years he clearly needs to be a 1A somewhere, that bridge can be crossed then.
It seems entirely premature to write off Askarov’s place in Nashville and his ability to get the same amount of games there as he develops as he would elsewhere. In the meantime - best case scenario - having an Ullmark/Swayman scenario seems pretty good for everybody.
Thanks for putting something accurate up.

Isn’t there a speculation title that’s more appropriate for this thread? There’s no rumor.
Well...THEY AREN'T SHOPPING HIM.Askarov is not enough to move into the top 5 in the draft. Preds would have to package Askarov with something else.
Future star? You have one of the best most consistent goalies in the league showing no signs of slowing down. 29 is not “old shrimp” for a goalieThoughts A Brewin’: Saros Set to Sign Extension with Predators
The Nashville Predators appear to have determined their franchise goaltender. Per Elliotte Friedman of Sportsnet and later followed up by Chris Johnston and Pierre LeBrun of TSN, general manager Barry Trotz and goaltender Juuse Saros have agreed to sign an eight-year, $61.92 million extension...nashvillehockeynow.com
This is brutal. Trotz is on glue. Resign the old shrimp for awful contract and trade the future star… SMH
Uh, that is a negotiating tactic. You ask for the moon in return, interested teams start a bidding war and eventually the asking price gets brought down with still a good return.Well...THEY AREN'T SHOPPING HIM. They received a ton of calls and put something out there pretty unrealistic to say "hey, we know you guys might want him in your system but it would take a literal top 5 pick to get us interested".
