It's not about trading Lehky. It's about acknowledging the kind of player he was and what he was going to give to that team. For him, you get surley a really far pick 'cause it's the Avs. And you get an ex-1st rounder that clearly isn't a top 2 D.
Of all the players we traded, we didn't get any A rated propsects in Heineman, Barron and Smilanic. Not one of them are. And that puts us back again in the reconstruction.
Insane how Bergevin was not able to build a team with the pieces we had. Just a waste.

There's a poster here who qualified Barron as a "throw in" in that deal. Mentioned if Barron is worth more than a second, than that means Lehkonen got more than Toffoli and Chiarot. I mean, yeah, these playoffs are showing exactly why Lehkonen was worth so much.

Barron is not a top 2 D. Smilanic is not top 6. Heineman, well we'll see. I don't see it either top 6 but he could surprise me.

I've been here for more than a decade so I plan on being here in a couple years once your bold prediction of a 19 years old first rounder's future is a bit more precise.

Here lies the f***ing problem. In 9 years, we have been unable, by building a team, to make a guy like Lehkonen either a permanent fixture OR a much greater value in a trade. It,s a f***ing waste.

How is saying Barron not a top 2D guy being négative ? It's just realistic, very few players can be a RH defenseman on a first pairing and Barron isn't trending like one. He doesn't need to be a top 2D either for this trade to be good. WS's point about years of misusing players is right though. Hopefully, we see this change as Lehkonen finally looked like the player he was trending to be after his rookie year once MSL came on board.

Yeah, you'll be here. You'll just have mysteriously forget it. Also, I said he won't be top 2. I didn't say he won't play in the NHL. But since you don't know how to read, you say that him not being top 2 meant our decisions sucks.
One thing is sure.....we are FAR from being a competitive team. Except for a season that wasn't one last one, we were not a competitive team. And to be a great team, you have to maximize assets. CLEARLY, Lehkonen wasn't maximize because in the past we were unable to surround him better.
With the players we traded, it was time to FORGET the picks, and concentrate in picking better prospects. WE did fine trades. We didn't maximize the trades. That's a fact. I loved Lehky. Always did. Even when people in here, most people, were laughing at him. I wasn't.
Until proven otherwise, we are totally in our right to be skeptic. You want to see life with unicorns, be my guess.

Obvious that both Lehkonen and Danault were under appreciated in Montreal!

These games are 6-5 and Lehkonen is playing with the Mackinnon's and Rantanens. He's going to pick up points.
For sure, MB and Timmins failed to get offensive players like that. But Lehkonen is still limited offensively. A valuable player - but only so valuable.

How can you say it's a fact they didn't maximise the trade lmao. Avs were targetting other players with Barron before Lehks. He wasn't worth 3 first rounders and so was Chiarot.

End result is that CLEARLY Lehkonen was always a better player than he was with us. Clear as day. So we didn't maximize his value by playing him on lesser roles and bad players.
That's the Montreal Canadiens for you. With every piece we had before Bergevin, being unable to build a competing team, a real one, is disgusting. We are really reconstructing as if we'd won 3 cups. Yet, we haven't won anything. Boston might soon have to reconstruct the same way. After winning 1 cup and going to the Finals 2 more time.

Lol you sound like we're the Buffalo Sabres or Pre Mcdavid Oilers. Could have been worse than 2 ECF and 1 SCF in 12 years. I completely disagree that they didn't get fair value for the deadlines trades.
