"consistent 20 goal scorer" = scored 20 or more goals 4 times in 12 seasons.
Are the people here really whining about a consistent 20 goal scorer during the bulk of his career coming to camp as a PTO?
What effect could a guy who is highly skilled and played for this coach in the past possibly have on the young core of Flyers coming up through the system?
The level of cluelessness and pessimism in some of the posts here is mind boggling.
If they were paying him $5 m per season there might be a legitimate gripe.
As Tortorella admitted, they don't know what Anisimov is at this stage of his career. But the person that he is and the knowledge he brings is more than worth utilizing a PTO - even if he isn't signed.

So instead of coming in here and calling a board of FLYERS fans clueless, maybe consider that you're not the smartest guy in the room.
Yeah but Hughes is an absolute f***ing monster so there's thatThe Devils have the most miserable fanbase in sports and I've been to Jordan-Hare.

Rutger is better than GlebNew York M.A.D. Cat Jack Hughes imo.

I mean, he's literally the only forward with 0 points in that Cup run. He's just proof that sometimes you just need to be in the right place at the right time.
And yet several goals were created by plays he made to keep pressure alive, so he was actually quite useful.
I said it was a "vain attempt." But the hole is real, a big body who is willing to screen goalies is a big plus, if he has the hands to redirect pucks, even better.Stewart never got near the opposing net. His legs were shot, as was the rest of him.
That wasn’t why Stewart was brought in. He was brought in to be a 4th line goon, but his on ice goals allowed results were so terrible they had to abandon their plan in a hurry.I said it was a "vain attempt." Oh, people get bent out of shape so easily.
Stewart was a vain attempt to find anyone who could replace Simmonds net front presence and actually screen goalies, he played all of 124 minutes, 6 forward prospects played more that season, unfortunately, only Farabee and NAK were worth more than a handful of warm spit. Notice the FLyers haven't had anyone who could fill that role in four years, Lindblom showed promise before cancer, JVR likes to step out of the way, who else?
Anisimov is a scrub, it would be nice if Couts was healthy, it would be nice if Laczynski would step up and take the job (he didn't exactly overwhelm against the Bruins) and not be the next Bunnaman/Vorobyev/Rubtsov. But if Laczynski is another flop prospect, it'll come down to Anisimov or J Cates or Brown (if healthy) or Brooks or Marody at 4C while they wait for Desnoyers to grow up. Does anyone care which scrub dresses?
You seriously compared Anisimov to Chris Stewart? Are the people here really whining about a consistent 20ish goal scorer during the bulk of his career coming to camp as a PTO?

TLDR; We're done with this shit year after year.
Well Stewart was a consistent 25 goal scorer for the bulk of his career, so I think it’s fair to compare him to a consistent 20 goal scorer like Anisimov.
You seriously compared Anisimov to Chris Stewart?
He's a player who changed roles to find a niche in the EIHL. It's a common story but an interesting one to anyone who actually appreciates the sport itself. That honestly makes it all the more impressive that he was that nondescript in a British league.
In pretty much every sport, when a big-time coach takes over he often brings players who have had success with him along to help familiarize the rest of the team with his program.I compared the Flyers bringing in cooked Vet A with cooked Vet B while saying the same trite claptrap. I did this in an effort to explain why this bothers us more than the average PTO.
No one cares whether Anisimov was better in his prime. It's irrelevant to what they are when they were brought in, which is all that should matter to the Flyers.
