Not looking good for Nash.

I love Kristo, Hrivik, Miller, Lindberg, and Kreider as much as the next guy, but at some point we might actually need someone better up on our top 6. We have trouble scoring as it is and with Nash out it would take one of our young guys to start pulling a Hertl before I breathe any easier regarding them eating significant minutes.

Just thinking some bad luck is involved. Maybe if the player is one inch a different way its not an injury.

But the player can do better to protect himself a little more.

yea Nash must have ****ed around with an ancient burial ground or something to get himself some real **** luck, to fault him for getting two concussions is ridiculous, i can understand blaming the player if he did something to put himself in that position or for giving himself a concussion ala owen schmitt or michael beasley or something like that but Nash was simply playing the game and got ****ed twice, what do u want him to do skate around scared of the fact that any of the other 10 players on the ice could possibly make contact with his head and concuss him.

We have no idea with Nash how long he could be out. Could be a week or a year, with concussions we just don't know.

I would like NYR to try to move Del Zotto to bring in a scoring forward, because Zuccarello has not been cutting it thus far.

Hopefully, this is the beginning of a move in that direction.

“@PLeonardNYDN: #NYR have placed Rick Nash on injured reserve. Frees up extra roster spot for them to add two forwards and Talbot if they want”

With Nash being moved to IR, expect 2 forward call ups. IMO that means could see a plug/bottom guy (Mash, Powe, Haley) and a top end guy (Kreider, Miller, Kristo)

mza's never been known as a scorer, he's considered a passer - besides he's largely been doing that at the start of this season (dishing out great passes that other's doesn't put in the back of the goal)

But he's last 2 games has been painfull to watch, he seems to be overthinking everything lately...

Why waive Asham? Isn't he better than say a Dorsett?

Dorsett is not terrible actually, recently he just was trying way too hard to be some sort of Avery and messed up constantly. Similar to Hank skating out to mid-ice to flop on his belly to clear the puck. Once he gets his **** back together, Dorsett should be quite useful. Right now he does need a time-out though.

Here is th verbage on it from the league:

"In the event that a player is injured and a Club wishes to place him on the Injured Reserve List the Club must follow these procedures:
A club may place a player on the Injured Reserve List if such player is injured, disabled or ill and unable to perform his duties as a hockey player after having passed the Club's initial physical examination in that season.
A player who has an injury that renders him physically unable to play for a minumum of seven days after that date of the injury can be placed on the Club's Injured Reserve List. Once a player is placed on the list, the Club may replace said player on its NHL roster with another player. All determinations that a player has suffered an injury warranting injured reserve status must be made by the Club's medical staff and in accordance with the Club's medical standards.
A player placed on Injured Reserve is ineligible to compete in NHL games for a period of not less than seven days.
Players on Injured Reserve may attend Club meetings and meals, travel with the Club and participate in practice sessions."

So they had to wait 7 days to put him on the IR and he has to stay on for an additional 7 days.

I don't understand the criticism that Asham receives. For a 4th line grinder he provides more than most. He can fight, and actually has a hell of a shot. If it's a "performance based" business, as AV puts it, why are we waiving a 4th line grinder who scored 2 goals in the post season with us last year in 10 games, with limited minutes. In contrast, our mega star Rick Nash scored just 1 goal in 12 games with huge minutes. Not saying let's waive Rick Nash, but lets put "performance" in some context.

In regards to Biron, I've never been that big of a fan. That said, we could do much worse than Biron. If it was based on "performance" than Henrik hasn't been much better than him. Lundqvist has been bombed an equal amount, and has also let up several terrible goals this season.

He should have used his words better. This is no more than a ploy to shed cap hits for players with limited roles on the team.

Hell, if it was based on "performance" Dorsett wouldn't even be in the NHL because of his IQ and discipline. In a performance based business, Pyatt, Boyle, Biron, Asham, Dorsett, MZA, Moore, etc, could ALL have been placed on waivers.

Fataldogg, Asham can shoot, but he sucks on the forecheck. If I'm choosing between a 4th line guy who can fight and shoot and a guy who can fight and forecheck, I take the forechecking every time. We don't need these guys to put the puck in very often, but they do need to create some momentum. A good shot doesn't do that.

Retroactive or not, all it means is that Nash is not allowed to play for seven days following the date of the injury (Tuesday October 8th). Technically he could play this upcoming Wednesday against Washington but that is not happening.

IDK why it's taken this long to waive Asham. He should have been waived at the end of camp. The guy is terrible and skates worse than I do and I'm a pretty bad skater.

Fitzy I agree 100%. Realistically though, what type of scoring help do you think we could swing for Del Zotto?

Del Zotto+++ for Yakupov (pipe dream, I know  )

BTW, nobody should ever remind me of Ryan Hollweg, but Dorsett has.

I'm not ready to punt him away yet, but he needs to chill. I've never hated a Ranger more than Ryan Hollweg. No hyperbole.

Problem is that MANY here had Kreider penciled into their top 6. Im not going to say Kreider is a bust because he still has time to continue to grow but IMO it looks less likely that he will ever fill that role.

Dorsett, like a lot of players on this team, is still trying to figure out his exact role on this roster. Plus, his mistakes are magnified right now. If the Rangers had won the two previous games, then his penalties costing us the StL game don't loom so large. It's all context.
