Wow, glad he won big like that.

I'm not entirely sure he can live up to it, mind you, since I thought he was mostly just "passable" as a BUG for us, and is probably playing a little over his head this season, but he certainly picked the right time to do it.

It'll be interesting to see how the Cancuks play the rest of their goaltending situation. Demko can be as good as anyone in the league but is oft injured which also leads to a lot of inconsistency. Silovs has been garbage outside of us making him look good in that playoff series. I can see the rationale of overpaying a bit for Lankinen who worst case scenario should at least be a high end backup, but maybe can be a solid starter or part of a tandem. Anyways I always enjoy seeing someone betting on themselves and succeeding which seemed to be what Lankinen did this year.

Oh I agree with that. Ours is worse cause its longer and another 3 million a season more for basically the same level of goalie at this point.

Everyday that goes by it becomes apparent just how bad Trotz screwed up by not trading Saros when he had the chance and just ran Lankinen and Askarov for a couple of years.

I think Trotz was already making room on his shelf for the GM of the year award after this summers signings and this year's reality is so horrific he is completely paralyzed. He has no clue how to respond and his coaching background is making him stick with this absolutely dogshit stupid coach while he fritters away our young players.

I'm very interested to see if he gets his head out of his ass at the trade deadline and makes some smart moves to get us back on track or if he flails like he has with everything else this year.

I think trotz went after big signings instead of needs. I'm not gonna lie to ya I was hyped with the marchessault and stamkos signing. But the signing on the defensive sides were not that good. After the Vancouver series it should of showed him we need more physical defensive defenseman so instead of waisting 10.5 on skjei and carrier he should of went after zadarov and pesce. I would liked to see us go after monahan if they didn't think stammer could play center and by where he started they signed him to be a winger

At some point, you just have to hope he stops swinging at every pitch. Or that someone pulls him out of the lineup. Because going after all those curveballs in the dirt isn't working.
