Sutter was played well in the first round but got injured, I don't remember for what but it's possible this series he was injured. Anyway, the Rangers were clearly a way deeper team then Pitt.

“@TSNBobMcKenzie: PIT will announce this morning GM Ray Shero and head coach Dan Bylsma have been fired. #TSNâ€

Haha...

Makes sense. Bylsma and Shero are tight and support each other quite a bit. I wouldn't be the least bit surprised if they wind up as a package deal.

Edit: Looks like it's just Shero for now. Interesting.

Woah…

“@joshuaginter: @TSNBobMcKenzie Dan Bylsma has NOT been fired.”

“@astockeyWTAE: #penguins Morehouse : "We have not fired Dan Bylsma". ##WTAEPens”

See what you get when you lose to the Rangers in the playoffs? :sarcasm:

One win away from the ECF and they are blowing it up. Can't say I blame them, just funny when you think about it like that

The NHL Carousel will continue spinning, and Bylsma will have a head coaching gig somewhere soon - with Shero taking over in DC.

Revolving door.

EDIT - Not firing Bylsma... yet....

The thing is, if the GM search takes a few weeks, then Bylsma is left drifting as a lame duck coach. They should at least do him the service of letting him compete for the current job openings instead of hanging around Pittsburgh to see if the new GM wants him or not.

Is there a thread anywhere or a website that lists how many compliance buyouts each team has left? They have to both be used before next season right?

I believe they have to be used before free agency starts. Also, I'm fairly certain they can't amnesty Letang because the extension only kicks in at the start of next season. I thought the rule was that you could only amnesty contracts that were on the books and running prior to the 2013 lockout.

*New York Rangers: When Marty St. Louis arrived there at the trade deadline, it wasn’t hard to picture Boyle joining his ex-Lightning buddies St. Louis and Brad Richards. He and St. Louis have remained close, and, in fact, share a lot of the same personality traits in addition to – or maybe because of – their similar physical stature.

Boyle said he heard from a lot of players around the league hoping he would join them next season and my money says St. Louis is one of those players.

Now if the Rangers end up winning the cup, maybe their need for Boyle diminishes. But right now, why not?

Boyle is a great PP QB. If they buy out Richards they will have nobody running the point.

Right handed d. Boyle over stralman.

Bylsma could be reassigned inside the organization with the catch that he is available for interviews as a new head coach elsewhere.

Did anyone else catch the Mackenzie tweet that Crosby's agent is supposedly the owner's front runner as GM? That would be an amazing train wreck. I know he wouldn't represent sid at that point but he would certainly cater to his former client in every aspect from coach to linemates. Imagine that sense of entitlement. Hope it happens.

38 year old Boyle over 26-27 year old Stralman?

What could go wrong?

PP QB,yadda yadda.

I'm onboard with signing an over 35 guy who the team won't be able to jettison.

Suppose Sad Brad getting whacked derails this whole Tampa Bay Lightning reunion tour everyone is planning?

GMs of elite teams should not be fired when the star players vanish in the playoffs.

McPhee and Shero are jobless because Ovechkin and Crosby vanished in the clutch. Literally. What were the supposed to do? Acquire players to make THEM better. The guys who carried them were the depth guys they acquired, not the franchise players you'd expect to show up.

Garth Snow deserves to be fired. Lowe/Mactavish should be fired. Dale Tallon - how does that guy still have a job?

The Isles are silly for going into next season with the same two clowns. They need experience and an identity.

Bylsma, Torts and Laviolette are all better option than Capuano. Hell , even Oates, Muller and Keenan are better.

McPhee should come work for the Rangers as an advisor or assistant. That guy bled for this organization.

Lots of quality guys fired because key players took a vacation when it mattered.

Stralman turns 28 this summer.

Staal is up next season. Klein, Girardi and Mac are locked up.

It's very risky to lock up 5 of 6 dmen long term, even if all five are pretty good.

Personally, I'd like to see Mcilrath given a chance.

Stralman should get 4/16 or in that neighborhood. Hell, maybe five from a desperate team like the Leafs.

All I read is how Boyle's game fell off a cliff. Yet you want to not resign an excellent defenseman who is much younger than Boyle for Boyle? :help: If Stralman ends up not resigning Rangers fans will see how big of a loss he was. Rangers fans don't like him because he's not super physical and not an offensive guy, but the guy is very solid defensively and moves the puck well. Getting an old-ass exclusively PP QB is a terrible idea.
