What is a large enough sample size for it to be no longer considered an anomaly?

I don't know. I think he's a good player who just so happens to score well in game 7s. I want to see how he does in other big games. I don't doubt that he ups his game in game 7s. That said if you take out his first 2 playoffs when he was young to be fair and he's a 0.65 PPG playoff player, but he's an almost 2 PPG player in game 7s. Are you telling me that he's about 2.8 times better in game 7s than he is over his playoff career? C'mon that's ********. And 6 games is not a large sample size. He happened to have 6 good games in his career. I'm sure he ups his game, not THAT much.

Gibson is very good, what a trial by fire for a guy with just a handful of NHL games under his belt. A Game 7 in a conference final.

Maybe he's just a guy that steps up in go big or go home type games?

Lundqvist is a game 7 freak.

Love what Gibson is going to be in this league.

Should've pulled him when the Kings went up 2-0.

Agreed. Right when that second goal went in he was staring at the bench wondering if he was going to get the hook. Obviously in his head and his confidence is shot.

He'll be a solid goalie in this league though.

Glad Anaheim is out (inb4 jinx)

The one team I wouldn't want to face in a potential SCF

Yeah, total opposite for me. We matchup extremely well against Anaheim. they're an unimpressive possession team with a weak blue line and rookie goaltender.

Lundqvist is a game 7 freak.

A number of differences with that:

1) I would NEVER question Quick's record in these games (to give a Kings comparison), which is why I'd never question Lundqvist's. Both guys are elite goalies with elite skills. When both guys have bad games it's either the team in front of them sucking, some bad luck (but most games that's not a huge factor), or mental issues. Both guys have teams that pick up their play in game 7s and are very good defensive teams to begin with and both guys know how to up their concentration (sometimes I wish he'd do it more often in the playoffs, but he does do it in game 7s and elimination games). Justin Williams is a good not great player. He is not Quick and he is not Lundqvist in his position.

2) There's only one goalie, so in essence he controls a lot of the game. If the rest of the team plays well chances are if he's on top of his game the result will be a very low goals against. There are 18 skaters. Each has less control over a game. The team can play well and even if he's on top of his game he might not get the opportunities to get those points. Look at the shot percentage of even the best players. There's a lot of luck involved in getting on the scoresheet. Justin Williams is not a center and he's not a superstar, so he has even less of control of the game. It's not that he doesn't up his game. He and his team do. But it's just a lot more likely that Lundqvist and Quick upping their games can make their stats better in game 7s than a forward like Justin Williams, especially to the tune of 2.8 times.

That's why I say the actual production is an anomaly despite me being convinced that he and his teams up their game. Not to the tune of 2.8 times. Also game 6 for him was almost as important, so were games 4-6. Why specifically game 7? It just so happens that he's played well in game 7s, part him upping his game, but also as a bit of a fluke. JMHO.

Out of the teams I'd be scared of playing:

LA

Chicago

Anaheim

No disrespect to Anaheim, but Chicago while sleepwalking through their last series is a team full of winners and LA, I just assume we'd score maybe a goal in 4 games against. I don't think they're a good matchup at all, we won't score against them. A Chicago-NY final at least has the potential to be a skating, entertaining series. LA and their 6'4 250 LB players will just obstruct and manhandle us, I think.
